I'm guessing that the ECMspy software doesn't work with the 1125.

Is there any way to access the ECM without the help of a dealership? I like fiddling with things.

I also need to know what options are available for updating the firmware. The local Buell dealer has made it clear that they do not like working on the 1125's and I'm afraid they wont be supporting them much longer.

From what I gathered you are correct that ecm spy cant be used to change the ecu, you can fetch the eeprom and read the afv, etc but you need an outside tuner like o.s.b. to make changes. I bought the o.s.b. tune, installed the pipe/filter performance tune and have been adjusting the afv with the o.s.b. tuner...

Or, send me the ECM, and I reprogram it for you:

"I'm guessing that the ECMspy software doesn't work with the 1125. "

Perhaps not on its own; but with the add-on from Dave (watch for his tuner listings on eBay) for the 1125, my 1125R fuel maps were altered with ECMSPY. In that sense, for home tuners ECMSPY is absolutely essential, because it fetches the maps, accepts the changes, and burns them back onto your 1125.

It remains to be seen whether a spark remap would make a difference to performance; in my case, the fueling changes made no hp or torque changes at all; they were made strictly to improve efficiency; and the evidence is that mpg is up from 35 to 39 mpg.

Redscuell, do you know Dave's eBay id, or have any other details on contacting him? I looked around on eBay just now, and while I found some ECMspy cables, none stated 1125 compatibility or seemed to be sold by a Dave.

Is Dave's 1125 ECMspy add-on a hardware thing or a software thing?

If you feel like writing up a quick post on how to use ECMspy with the 1125 I know I'd read it! I bet a bunch of other new 1125ers would be stoked as well.

For you "noobs", Easyrider(Dris) has spent more dyno time with the 1125 than anyone, possibly even Buell R&D.
He's been in on this since the beginning and he and Bud at Twinmotorcycles.nl also have a fairly quiet/good power exhaust system.
They are distributed in the US by Pete at Grandstand Designs.
Both are BadWeB sponsors.

Dave's stuff is local(Ohio) and is top notch but discussion about his wares is not allowed openly on BWB. Long story.

Rideability has long been an issue with me, there ARE solutions.

Zac, What happend with our testdriver, I still need somebody over there to drive with our exhaust and fuel map and share experiences. We need somebody who makes a lot of miles with it.... I think Pete will also agree on this...

You know I'm more than willing Dris.
I'm pretty settled in with Kevin's but I'd LOVE to give your pipe a whirl.
I've got access to a dyno at Dan's shop.

Should I drop Pete an e-mail?

Short and sweet:

The ECMspy folks don't want their product distributed. Period. Don't post links or offer to do so on BadWeB. Honor the author's request. It's a simple thing called integrity. Get some.

Blake,

Short and sweet:

It's a simple thing called civility. Get some.

And, since you have the ability to make this my last post for some time, I will close with the following:

...nor will I engage in personal attacks nor in malicious derision in any form of other users of the board. I agree to treat with respect and courtesy all members of this online Buell enthusiasts' community. I realize that there is never any justification to violate this policy, and that if I do, I may forfeit my BadWeB posting privileges.
...
I will only post commentary with a respectful demeanor just as if I am speaking face to face. In all cases I will avoid flame wars and hateful, malicious, derisive, insulting or divisive commentary. I understand that malicious derisive personal commentary in any form is entirely unwelcome on BadWeB.

I didn't see anything in there saying "unless I am a Custodian of BadWeb."

Since I'm supposed to bring posts that I find to be objectionable to the attention of a Custodian, I've now done so. I don't believe that a personal attack in which you accuse someone of having no integrity is even remotely in keeping with the letter or the spirit of the rules that we all are supposed to abide by.

Apparently unknown to you, I posted the above after having removed two posts in this thread offering to share the ECMSpy program; one actually included a hyperlink to a down-loadable pirated copy that was being publicly distributed, absolutely and entirely 100% in violation of the author's mandate.

That is what my comment was directed towards.

I see comments like that allot...

So, has anyone written a "tuning the 1125 for dummies"? Most other bikes I've played with, it's easy to exchange maps, talk tuning etc. The Buells, especially the 1125, seem cryptic. }

We have made some progress with Direct Link. Have made some small changes to WOT for the Jardine and will do the same for the Drummer. We are waiting for the next version of DL that will display both the front and rear AFVs while we tune "closed loop and closed loop learn. It also looks like we will have a race /chain swing arm conversion and race exhaust sometime early next year. Terry - www.jtspeformance.com

EcmSpy is no longer required for the fetch and burn being hinted about in this thread.

This is fact or I would not post such and thanks to a dedicated Buell tuner that is no longer welcome on this website.

I don't consider this post advertising...I see it as a corrective action and truth without being an A$$.

As you were...
