Need some opinions:

Have a 2009 1125R - Racing Red.

Picked up the side fairing kit, which obviously is black.

Do I leave the side pieces black, and just cover them with a Red vinyl graphic to match the rest of the bike? Or do I try to find someone crazy enough to try and match the plastic on the rest of the bike? Would rather not have to have the whole set painted.

thoughts?

Most good paint shops can scan a red piece and match it exactly.

It'd be interesting to see it unpainted (black) and decide. Is it easy enough to install that you could put it on & post some pics? Plus, I'd love to see how it looks.

The dealer in pensacola had a red 09 1125R with black fairings with some small red and black tribal graphics... it looked pretty good.

@Toona - agreed - but do I want to pony up $$$ for a good paint shop when $100 vinyl kit will do the job.

@Dman - will do - prob Sunday - maybe one night this week - should be arriving today.

@NotPurple - how much of the fairing was covered in graphics - I would have thought that large graphics would have looked better... but that's just me...

Please post the Red/Black combo. I'm in the same boat and would love to see what it looks like.

Also thinking about having all of the plastics sprayed with bedliner cover. Should give a little more grip on the airbox as well as look a little more badass. I've seen a few XB9SX's around here and it looked great. Anybody else try this?

I've seen it, and I think it looks like crap. Why do you need better grip on the air box cover.

I had the fairings matched to my white R by a local paint shop ($175). They just painted right over the black and got pretty close to the actual color. Check out this previous thread:

Red intakes on a black bike would be badass - black on red... not so sure...
