The 1125R I'm buying is California spec, however, I'm not nor will ever register it in california. Is there much difference, and what can I do to de-california-ify the thing if there is any difference? Also, my county doesn't require any inspections or emissions testing.

That's weird. All the good deals seem to be out of California.

California bikes have a different fuel map and a cat in the muffler. You might be able to get a 49 state map downloaded into your bike, which is probably the most important thing.

An aftermarket exhaust willl take care of the cat.

The only other thing is the carbon can ona CA bike. The good thing is that it will take care of he dripping fuel and most of the gas smell. The bad thing is that it can mess with the front AFV. It has been speculated that low front cylinder AFV might be caused by returned fuel from the carbon can.

Thanks, I'll put that on my list of first things to do.

I pulled my carbon can and it made no diff on the low front AFV. I believe the 49 state bikes have a slightly better fuel map, but it's just a thought I have absolutely no hard data to back that up. My bike sounded and ran slightly better with the 49 state muffler before they installed the CA muff, but that's just SOTP.

I would get a 49 state if I could and if it was convenient, if the CA bike is what you get, I'm sure you will be happy.

I would have kept the 49 state muffler on it.

I concur. California fueling is leaner by some degree, which is undesirable as we all know.

IIRC, Bigblock received a 49 state muffler by accident and didn't have a choice whether or not to keep it. I could be way off base.

I just saw the cat in the CA muffler tonight and its hard to believe that it doesn't choke the engine to some degree.

Yes, Fresno is right, I received the 49 state muff as delivered by mistake, and they called my bike back and put the the CA muff on against my wishes.

I agree, the cat on this beast looks like it must choke it a bit.

My bike feels SOTP much better over 6,000 rpm with the fmf, and WAY better at the top of the range, I hope it's not my imagination!

Weather and time permitting, I may get a chance to run it at Sears point before the season is up. THen we might have some hard data to make comparisons with.

Same with me on it coming with the wrong muffler. They told me I needed to bring it in for the CA. pipe too.

I have this problem with remembering to do things.

On another note. how many Harleys roll out of dealers with loud aftermarket pipes on them.

My bike had to go in for warranty work, and it came back with a CA muffler.
