Have my money together and called the dealer to set up a time to close and take delivery on the 08 1125r today. Was told that they have to do recalls on the bike before they can deliver and they don't have the parts in, yet. Man am I bummed. Funny how they have been letting people demo on a bike without having all up to date recalls, but can't deliver it.

Call another dealership and see if you can get an 09!

That's pretty lame. I think by law they aren't supposed to sell them w/o all recalls done (read that here somewhere). So that makes a bit of sense why they'd demo it... BUT i wouldn't want my soon to be bike being demo'd by a bunch of people before i buy it!

They are going quick - i'd call around and line another up. For a bit more (depends where you are at) try to get the 09 if you can.

What are the advantages of the '09 versus the '08? I've been ready to pull the trigger on one...

Hogluvr - 08 was first year for this new design. a few issues were resolved by physically moving parts (injectors, fuel sensors, etc.).

Now plenty of 08's had little/no issue, but a few struggled with surging (even after flash), weeping clutch covers (addressed mostly by rev b and c), ODIS dash issues, etc.

Lots of little things, almost all addressed by updates/flashes, or updated parts that should be replaced before bike is sold.

but for just a "bit" (all relative and depends on where you are at) more i would (and did) get an 09 instead.

my .02. There are a ton of threads on the 08 issues. I may have goofed it up, so look and see for yourself.

Here we go again...

Speedo
Clutch Slave Kit
Fuel Injectors
O2 Sensors Repositioned
Rear Stand Spools
Updated ECM Map
Softer Suspension Springs
Front Brake Line Rerouted (recall)

Those are the main ones, I'm sure I missed a few.

Sl33py - The new clutch covers don't fix the clutch weep. There's a new piston kit that fixes that problem.

The main advantage of an 09 over an 08 is different fuel injectors and relocated O2 sensors.

I'm disappointed, yes. However, I like my dealer. I will wait as patiently as possible.

Well, I got a pleasant surprise today. Went in to my dealer today and thought I would go ahead and pay for it. That way I could just swing in a pick it up tomorrow. When I get there my sales guy says all the recalls were completed, it just needed washing. I said I would take it dirty.

Also, picked up uly pegs and manual. Had to order the de-noiding resistor plug and custom seat, as they weren't in stock.
