So the dealer is telling me that the rear LED's are not functioning because of lack of voltage and that this is a known issue and it will be warranted.

Has anybody heard of this? Doesn't make any sense to me at all.

Mine didn't work when I rode away from dealer on Sat. Still they put a inspection sticker on it. IMO the clear lense looks ugly on my black bike. Replaced assy with after market small amber color with a bulb.

So Mrbikle...what is the issue? How is it that the blinkers are getting low voltage and how are new ones going to fix that problem?

they are probably just burned up - known issue, sometimes they last 10 miles and sometimes that last 10,000 miles like mine - there is a new version out that looks the same - not a big deal - just let them order and replace under warranty

Bad blinkers not low voltage. The new blinkers will fix it.

No big deal.

My 2009 CR had the same problem. My dealer sent out a truck to pick up my bike that week, one day to fix it by installing new blinkers, and they delivered the bike back.

Yes they had a bad batch or two. The replacements are fine.

I picked up my 1125CR, with a fresh inspection sticker, on Saturday. When I got home, my girlfriend (who had been behind me as I rode home in the rain) said that the right turn signal never came on. Yep. Defective.

So on Sunday, I drove to a dealer that had them in stock, plunked down $50, and installed the signal module (one screw, two wires). Why I had to pay for a new signal housing, stem, and wiring is a bit of a mystery.

My dealer has ordered a replacement and I'll have a spare that way. For me, it would be nuts to have no spare turn signal "bulb." WTF would I do if my 1125CR failed the annual safety inspection for a dead turn signal and replacements were on a three week back order at HD?

Ya...that's what I thought. I didn't think it was a voltage problem.

So does anybody have the old AND the new model numbers for the blinkers so I make sure to tell the dealers to order the right ones...I don't want to do it twice. Is there a fische for Buell somewhere?

I don't think they can order the old ones that suck. From what I've been told it was a manufacturing error with the distributor which was fixed. Now they only produce working turn signals.

Whats a fische? Sounds delicious. Anyway the part numbers are:

Y0526.1AM TURN SIGNAL, LEFT REAR, LED Retail Price:$47.50

Y0527.1AM TURN SIGNAL, RIGHT REAR, LED Retail Price:$47.50

Fmaxwell, not sure why they didn't just do that as warranty right on the spot, I know my dealer would of and has in the past for other issues.

100 miles on my 08R, no signal issues, 5000 miles on my 09 CR, no signal issues either.

Bad ones use the same part number, the way you can tell them apart is by opening the signal and checking the seal, they changed the color on the new ones.

Froggy:

By the time I discovered it on Saturday, my dealer was closed. They don't open on Sunday. The dealers who were open on Sunday confirmed that my dealer didn't have one in stock anyway.

The other dealers (who did have the parts in stock) refused to do a warranty replacement unless I set up an appointment and brought the bike to them during the work week. For a $50 part, taking three hours off of work to ride 40 miles to a dealer, wait for their service guy to swap the part, and then ride back would have been financially imprudent (or, to be less pompous, "dumb").

They had to to let their service departments do the incredibly skilled diagnostic and R&R work associated with a turn signal failure (I am just an electrical engineer who builds satellites, so it's obviously not something they can just trust me on).

And, as I said, I did not want to be without a spare.

Just picked my 08' R up...Rear signals are NOT working...Need to take it back. I thought maybe just a plug not plugged in (I looked, but nothing obvious)...Maybe not from what I am reading above.

So much for the dealer inspection before I rode away...15 lbs. of air in the front tire, 20 lbs. in the rear, and no turn signals! At least the deal ($$) was STRONG!

They might of worked when you left the dealer. From what I can tell based on everyones reports, you might get a hundred blinks and then poof its dead.

If that was the case, I got about 10 blinks...I rode it about 4 miles to my office (about 6 turns worth). That is when I noticed they were not working.

Who knows...BUT I am HAPPY with the purchase (or STEAL in this case)!

Froggy, a Fische is the microfilm of olden days that had its own reader for diagrams and part numbers. Now replaced with PC's and Parts Numbers Manuals.

As someone posted before, if one blinker is blinking faster on your gage package, chances are that blinker isn't working. An easy way to tell without trying it out in front of your GF with a disbelieving look on your face!

Now that all of you new Bueller's see the BS that we've been putting up with dealing with tattooed, toothless, ponied tailed HD riders working at your local Buell shop. Get them fixed under warranty, buy yourself a Service Manual, an Electrical Service Manual, and a Parts Manual. Some dealers offer 20% off through the internet on all parts and manuals.

Enjoy your deals. Read with the perspective of 20-20 hindsight!!

I took mine for a test drive before I bought it and both the rears weren't working. They fixed it while I was signing papers.

My left blinker was dead in April and my right one in August. Both times immediately after loading the battery.

IMO the clear lense looks ugly on my black bike. Replaced assy with after market small amber color with a bulb.

During pre-production, Buell moved from amber front turn signals to clear in order to improve aesthetics.

My rears weren't working when I picked up the bike either. Builds great confidence on the "setup". Fortunately I didn't pay for it. They had it fixed in about 20 minutes.

The mech. said it was something like a bad ground, but that seems kinds silly...

Had my '08 for about 6 weeks now. Been watching for the rear turn signals to malfunction. Today, at 1650 miles, the right rear stopped working. Tell-tell sign was the front flashed faster than normal. Took out the LED module to look at it. Wiring and voltage to plug is good to the module, the LED module is just a goner! They fail in a blink (pun intended)
