Court, what do you think a rally on the front lawn of Harley's headquarters would do to persuade them to keep investing in Buell. Can you imagine a thousand Buells rolling onto the front lawn in protest? Just food for thought. I'm absolutely devastated about their decision to close. I'm a huge advocate of Buell. It makes me feel good to ride an awesome bike that I can actually sleep good at night over because it is an AMERICAN motorcycle. I have prided myself over that since I started riding a buell 3 years ago.

Scott- check the "Court in Session" forum "Tomorrow is a BIG day" thread.

Buell's relationship with HD is a done deal. OTOH I have a feeling Erik Buell is going to be leaving HD in his dust.

DO WE WANT HARDLEY influencing Buell any longer - especially in light of what we've seen in the past few days?

"Couches are for your living room, NOT your garage" - probably my new signature line

I say a BETTER rally will be when Erik produces his new machinery, THEN we have the rally and ride them to Hardley HQ. If HD actually ALLOWS Erik to chew through his ropes and DO SOMETHING - or if Erik comes up with something on the "outside" of Hardley... THOSE are the bikes we need to ride to HD.

Gonna get interesting.

Scolly, I'm no Buell expert although I've enjoyed them and hope to have an 1125R soon. But as a business person, I think it's safe to say with 100% confidence that H-D is not going to reverse something like this once it's publicly announced.

Although I don't like it either, the best outcome would be for Erik to have latitude to start/continue operations somewhere else. H-D put a lot of thought (bean counter'ish) into this, and they aren't going to reverse it. This ship sailed ...

Harley has 100,000 minimum of loyal Harley riders on their front lawn every five years.

If a few thousand loyal Buellers would have brought other brand sport bike or adventure bike riders into their Buell dealership last year, perhaps we wouldn't be having this discussion.

But like the Wandell decision, this is all water under the bridge.

Look the the clearing blue skies to the west.

Shut up & ride.

Too bad egos rule the corporate world. If HD reversed the decision that would mean someone was WRONG <gasp>.

Nah its better to dig the heels in and let Erik Buell go instead of the bumble dicks who killed Buell without any data.

Absolutely brilliant.

I think what is being missed here is WHY? why would any Buell fan want HD running Buell? have you ever been into a HD shop to buy a Buell they obviously don’t want us there but we are crying about them getting out of Buell I hope they sell it and some independent company buys it! F*()&K HD

Based upon Court in session...I'd wager Mr. Buell and Company are up to something in a better direction.

Time will tell but I'm going to think positive.

Winter is coming at the right time for such.

Oh, the possibilities...

Actually fellas, I think by closing Buell and stopping production it made these bikes that much more legendary, the way Harley use to be. I've wanted a Buell since highschool(1995). I get one 8 months ago and now they get canned

You want to feel old? My first exposure to Buell was an ad for a 1999 X1 when I was a sophomore in high school : )

I've wanted to get a Buell since 2000 when I was a junior in high school, we can learn a lot from the older more experienced Buellers though.

Well, I pray Eric is "Moving on", I bought my 08 in sept last year, I fell in love, I am still in love; Only now, the ride home seems depressing, I had found my brand, I was a life long Buell owner, and I knew it, I was home. I am going out tomorrow to see if I can pickup whatever the dealer has on the floor/storage with a helicon in it. I need my belt drive, I need the engineering that only comes with Buell. I know it seems really stupid, even to me, but I am really depressed. Where else am I going to find a sports bike that I can spend 8.5hrs in the saddle, crawl off her and still spend 30min just looking at her, with a smile on my face, no where; everything form here on out is down hill and I know it.

I'm absolutely AGAINST any kind of demonstration on or near Juneau Ave. The only thing it can do is make things worse for our friends at Buell.

Lets focus on the future.

There is no way HD will reverse their decision, it is very sad for all us loyal Buell owners but even worse for the workforce, yes the 1125R may have been received better long term if the various issues had been sorted out earlier but Buell are not alone in this respect. I intend to keep my 09 1125R until it becomes impossible to get parts, hopefully this will not occur for many years - it is a really fine bike but I regret trading in my Firebolt this summer to buy a Fat Bob, had I known that HD were intending to drop Buell I would not have considered another HD product at all - so beware HD the Fat Bob is the last bike I will buy from the group

Guys, dont mistake me. I never cared for Harley being tangled with Buell to begin with. I don't want the company to die or worse, a chinese company to buy it. I love my bike, its my secong Buell and never wanted to ride anything else. My biggest concern is the company resurrect and an American company stay an American company along with retaining American Jobs. Both of my cars are Fords built right in the good old US of A and so is my bike. In the end, I'd rather see the Big Arrogant HD hang on to it than see it disappear into the sunset.

Buell is hot but a red-headed stepchild to HD. There is a death and rebirth process here...planned for some time (my old biz background and reading Wall Street Journal daily for years). After tax right-offs for Big Buell Losses :-) in 2009...it will rise from the ashes and fly away from HD to where sport and adventure bike people live. HD has been good for Buell in a lot of ways. Cocoon years...now watch. The asset is too valuable. The bikes too cool.
It has to rise...and will...if the combination of a commie president in the midst of unbelievable national debt, declining scholastics and morality and the rise of India and China will ever give us an economy where we can happily buy stuff we don't really need...again. My 2 cents.

Eulysses: Your political comments about our President are inappropriate in this forum (calling him a "commie"). Your sudden concern about the national debt is rather suspicious given that it was Obama's predecessor that nearly doubled our national debt in just 8 years. G.W. Bush and Obama both have engaged in deficit spending. Both bailed out numerous Wall Street firms and banks. Both have increased the national debt. Both have spent huge sums fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Gee, I wonder what about Obama is so different; what it is about him that is upsetting to you...

@Fresnobuell

"...he's black!

Is that what you want to hear?"

*If* that's what's bothering people, I'd rather that they say it than pretend that Obama's policies and ideas are some kind of wild, never-before-seen kind radicalism. If it's something else, I'd like to hear that.

"Obama is nuts."

Sure. They gave him a Nobel Peace Prize for Insanity. And being insane is why he was elected to head up the Harvard Law Review, elected to Congress, and elected President. People just love electing crazy people for important roles. And all of Europe? He's popular there because they are enthralled at having a madman controlling the world's most powerful nuclear arsenal.

Come on -- get real. You can certainly argue that Obama was wrong to continue Bush's bailouts of the financial sector and the automotive industry. You can argue that it was irresponsible of him to leave Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy in place when we're funding a multi-front war. You can say he should have worked harder to overturn the military's dont-ask-don't-tell policies. But I'd hardly call that kind of disagreement a sign that he's "nuts."

Take it elsewhere. I am so sick of the political bickering. Ignore the trolls.

HDI needs to be publicly shamed into selling Buell, not keeping it. A sizable showing of civil unrest that makes the news and gets the message out might not hurt.

We need this to hit the national headlines.

Planning it on an open forum... not so bright.

I don't care that he's black. I don't care what awards the guys is getting. He is devaluing the money for which I have worked hard and honest by bailing out people and corporations that have chosen to do the wrong thing. Our standard of living will never be what it once was.

The system is so corrupt and beyond repair. Government sucks. Democratic/socialist government sucks even more.
