Hey guys, I have an appointment and a pre-approval for a 09 1125CR tomorrow on my day off. I've never even seen one in person up till now, but now I fully intend to drive one home tomorrow.
I've been looking into all the questions that new 1125 owners all seem to have so that I'm not asking a million repeat questions.

The one question I haven't seen answered is what changes can I expect going from my 03 XB9R with race kit to this?

I'm 6 ft tall and somewhere between newbie and average rider. I've been riding about a year and a half on my firebolt and I love it.

I know about the power differences of course, but what changes can I expect in ride comfort, handling, braking, 2up riding, and maintenance? Thanks and I can't wait to upgrade!

I went from xb9r to 1125r.

The 2008 1125 requires more suspension setup and is more prickly in power delivery. Once your get it right, they are about equal. I prefered the xb for the slow stuff round town and the 1125 for the track.

Bottom end (torque) feels nearly the same, but the 1125 keeps pulling and has a little rush around 8k. More vibration at higher revs.

Weight is about the same, but the XB9 has a lower center of gravity.

It's a Buell and you'll have no trouble adapting.

I ran the lightning footpegs on my firebolt and the 1125 feels about the same.

Ride comfort - Should be pretty close to what you're used to with the XB9R, with the exception of wind buffeting at high speed. No fairing to tuck behind on the CR.

Handling - Same or better than what you're used to. I'm betting you will think better.

Braking - Better. ZTL2 is a step above ZTL for braking.

2up riding - "Hold on TIGHT!"

Maintenance - the 12.4k service intervals to check & adjust valves as needed is the only real PITA from a DIY perspective. Otherwise, nothing that should put you off. Pick up the manuals (Service, Parts, Electrical Diagnostic) and you should be set.

Just my opinions & YMMV.

Thanks, the footpegs specifically were one thing I was curious about because I use the Lightning pegs on mine for comfort. You say the stock pegs on your 1125 are about the same? Pegs aren't interchangeable are they?

Oh, the seats are interchangeable aren't they? I'd assume they are since they use the same tail. I have the Buell Custom rider seat and the Touring pillion that I'll hang on to if they fit.

Pegs are interchangeable with a little filing/grinding for fitment between the XB & 1125.

I believe the Uly pegs are a "direct replacement" requiring no adjustment, but may be wrong.

Seats are interchangeable between the XB9/12R and 1125R/CR.

The Uly pegs are the same drop as the Lightning pegs, just bigger. The Uly ones went on my CR with absolutely zero modifications.

I have never driven one or seen one up close. Just purchased one over the phone sight unseen and can't wait to see what there like compared to my XB12R. Has almost 50 more horsepower so I would think it would be a nice step up in power?

Alot of people are telling me the bike is more refined than the XB's which I could understand without the harley engine in there.

gonna agree on pucker factor part...

but coming from a butter smooth well broken in xb9s the 1125cr is definitely not more refined. this things is a raucous beast that when it hits the midrange, it feels like riding a freight train pointed at a nearby blackhole! awesome!!! : D

I went from an XB12R to an 1125CR. Easiest way to put is the 1125 does everything the XB does, only better.

Maintenance will be more, however. Totally worth it.

Can I still do most of the maintenance myself if im somewhat mechanical?

And how about the sound? Will I miss my race pipe's low rumble?

Well I got one and I love it. Never thought I could get ahold of my dream bike so soon, but I'd sacrifice it to be able to ride my old firebolt to East Troy next year.

I love the CR and the power that seems to always be there, but the sound is taking some getting used to. And it vibrates a lot. I thought they got rid of that with the new maps? Will that lessen after the break in period? I only have 220 miles on it so far.
