Anyone know the appx. max temperature at the header where it meets the midpipe. I have some 500 degree silicone sealant, but I am not sure that high enough...THankss.

FMF has be great so far. Front AFV up to 104.5 and rear stayed at 100.0.
Any one got ideas on the hand guards from the pic Fresno posted above ?

I was concerned about the header temp too because the only silicone gasket maker I had laying around was rated to 650F. Looking at the websites for products available in auto parts stores, the highest temp I could find was Permatex Ultra Copper, and that was rated to 750F.

Check out this post I found where I guy measured his ATV's exhaust temp at various points:http://forums.atvconnection.com/polaris/282444-exh aust-pipe-surface-temperature.html

Those readings of course can't be directly compared, but they suggest that your 500F silicone might be close to the limit.

Fres, I used Permatex ultra copper, good to 700 degrees. Have not noticed any issues so far.
