Question for those with a CR and the high-bar kit:

Do you really need to get the kit or are the cables/lines long enough for the high bars by them self's??

No the cables & brake lines are not long enough for the high bars. However you can flip the clubman bars over & turn them end for end and the stock cables & brake lines will be long enough for that change. Then it looks like a praying mantis from the front.

You need the cables, hence why they come in the kit : )

What is the part number of the kit (longer cables/lines)?

Does anybody know if the highbar kit includes directions? It appears the throttle cable, brake line and Clutch line have to be replaced. This will involve bleading brake and clutch. I assume it will also be necessary to detach and reattach throttle cables on the intake.

Also do the handlebars come with GRIPS already installed? Or would you need to order new grips as well ...

Grips are not included.

Instructions will read "refer to factory service manual for proper procedure" for installing the lines and cables.

Get the book. Always a good idea; even better now. It's on the list of stuff I'm getting with my new CR.

Get the traction grips, and consider having the dealer do the install. It's fairly involved, but if you have the time and are good with a wrench, go for it. If not, don't.

We'll see if the clubmans grow on me. If I knew it was very complicated maybe I should have negotiated high-bars into the CR deal.

I am hoping to get a CR tomorrow if I can find one local enough for the right price. I will WANT the high bars. If I do get one, I would gladly swap all components.

Froggy,
If I do wind up with a CR...you are only about 1 hour, 20 mins from me. A swap is VERY feasible. I have the garage and the tools.

One grip is included, for the clutch side, now I have a spare. use your air compressor and an air gun and get the air under the grip around the whole handlebar end and they slip right off.

I just bought an 1125cr. After riding it home (about hours) my wrists were killing me.

I've never ridden with clubman bars, so I'm about to as some real newbie questions:

1) Is this something you just get used to?

2) Is it common practice to lie down on the airbox during long highway rides?

Yup

I do on all my bikes, even my Ulysses with those factory ape hangers. Talk about uncomfortable, all bikes should have clubmans or similar from the factory!
