Heres an unfinished pic of Buell's lowers and a belly pan i got from pete at Grandstand designs. Now I have plans to add a section to finish covering up the head pipe.
Just want to know what you guys think.
Thanks, Micah

Nice if talking work in progress but looks like it needs another lower and rearward cover up on that muff.

Does the belly pan have to be removed to get to the oil drain plugs? Looks gooood!

I'd hope so.
The point of a belly pan is to catch fluids and keep them out from under your rear tire.

Well, yeah, good point. At 100+ mph, I doubt it catches much.

You'd be surprised.
I've seen a ducati blow out the drain plug and not a drop of oil hit the ground on the track.

That thing doesnt look like it could catch much of anything.

Not that one, I'm talking about a full belly pan.

I agree about the one pictured above.

badlionsfan i understand your comment with a fully belly pan on the ducati.

the one pic above is like a half belly pan.

Speculation, but I think the Buell fairings are shorter and adapting a GSD belly pan will be difficult. Hopefully, someone is working on a belly pan that will match the Buell fairings.

I still like my Catalyst Composites lowers. See profile picture. Not quite as clean a transition to the lower from the pods but nice enough and full belly pan for oil retention if you need it. Also one piece that removes in 30 seconds with 6 Dzus fastners. Bob

Yes, but it appears that it does not cover the exhaust. Hence, "Speculation, but I think the Buell fairings are shorter" I have my bike here and will go take some measurements, we also have a Buell fairing out of a box and I will make some comparisons and post them in a few minutes.

Internet has been down. Looks like the buell fairing sides are 2-3" shorter than GSD's. I love the look of the Buell fairings, really smooths out the pods.
Good luck with your install. Keep the pictures coming.

I wonder what the reason Buell did not offering a belly pan, as well??

I think it has to do with the stock muffler. It is very difficult to fit a back lip (and make it hold fluids) because of the narrow clearance between the stock muffler and the tire.
They could make one that does not form a catch pan, but then track day and racer folks would complain.

Aftermarket exhausts come in all different shapes and it would be difficult to design a belly pan envelope that would fit them all.

The GSD fairing is a very tight fit, but looks great.

It is a stock Buell pipe! It is hard to beat, gotta hand it to the Buell engineers. Bike just needs a little more fuel/spark change.

The pegs are from American Sport Bike. Check their website. (Check out the dropped peg bracket and extended gear shifter toe piece)

I have about 1800 miles on my bike. My job has me working most of the time and I have 3 other bikes. I do have a GSD racing tail piece I am going to put on and I am going to make some other changes.

Yes, they are from Grand Stand Designs and are fiberglass. GSD is a sponsor of BWB, as well. It is a "race fairing" and comes without mounting brackets. Fabbing the brackets was the hardest part and cutting out for the kickstand was "interesting". They also have matching front fender, tail piece and other parts. Pete is a good guy!

teach, it looks like your bellypan and parts of the fairings are showing a bit of the fiber of the fiberglass. thats not how they come from GSD is it? if not how did you do that? it looks great.

Teach how about a picture of the right side of the bike, I'm interested how you cut the belly pan around the exhaust.

Your fairing looks great and to echo everyone else Pete at GSD is great to work with!
