Just wondering, how hard would it be to convert a CR to an R?
Is it as simple as it sounds? Just purchase the parts and bolt them on?
What parts exactly would need to be purchased?

What are you looking to do? Just the front end? Or the gearing too?

The front end swap is a bit involved but doable. It has been done before, biggest issue I recall being the ignition locks.

I'd like to have the R fairing on the CR. Love the CR with high bars and the lower gearing. But at about 90mph, the wind gets a bit stiff. : )

I would tell you to tuck in, but you would have to mount headlights to your helmet in your case

Yeah...tucking in isn't an option for me. I become a big sail. Fastest speed on the CR so far as been 135mph, and that was damn breezy.

I did 145 on my FJR and 149 on my Gixxer.

It's hard for me to get out of the wind no matter what I'm riding.

Heck, even when I had a Miata, my head stuck out above the windshield with the top down.

Chad,

It'd be cheaper to convert to the Firebolt fairing with the double bubble. Plus, it'd look better: )

I don't plan on doing anything. Other than to keep working out to build the muscles in my arms so I can hang on better. : )

thanks for the input guys, I'd just like to swap out the flyscreen/headlight for the fairing assembly.
So the ignition causes some problems, eh?
sounds like a minimal hurdle. ; )

166.4mph is banging off the rev limiter in 6th according to a gear calculator I saw. 180.7 for the R.

I think 166 is plenty fast for the CR. I did 145 ONCE on mine and it felt like the front end was off the ground it was so light. anybody know of a steering stablizer that will work on the CR?
