ok, maybe someone else has had this same problem and can help me. i drove my R to work the other day and then went on a nice ride after work. put it in the garage and now bout 4days later the only thing it will do is headlights on, horn and crank over. the cluster doesnt do anything and it will not run!!

Check the grounds. There's one at the battery, obviously, and one underneath the faring into the triple clamp under the steering stem.

ok... this is baffling!! well, i dont think it was the battery cuz it would crank over... headlights would work...
i checked grounds and everything seemed to be tight. i went to push her back in the garage and turned the key to off so i could steer, moved her 1.5 feet and then everything turned on... with the key in OFF position! now she works just fine. must just be that time of the month for her... ;P

Sounds like the battery to me.

I have had this happen to me a few times. I assumed it was do to my GPS being hardwired so I always put it on the tender when in the garage.

I recall the early bikes having dis charge issues. I believe one of the current flashed addressed that.

The coming on while the key is off can't be good.

Sounds like you have a broken wire in your switch.
Dealer should replace, warranty.

I have fixed mine twice, the last time I relieved some material from the fairing stay.

Had to drill a hole in a T-40(I think) to get the "security" bolts out of the switch.
After doing ET stuff since the 70s, I'd rather do my own electrical work.
Sorry, no pix.
