YEP...SIZE AND GROUND CLEARANCE...WE WERE ONE OF THE FIRST TO RUN THE OLD PIPE ON OUR TRACK BIKE...HAD GROUND CLEARENCE ISSUSES...THEY REDESIGNED IT..SET US ONE OF THE FIRST OF THE NEW DESIGN...LOVE IT...
as far as performance...for the track works great..for the street..might be a little lean down low with a stock tune.."might"

JT said it, but it's a little buried, so I'll say it again: it's an inch or 2 shorter than the original (compared my bike with racerxusa). This makes it (subjective evaluation) a little louder, and it (for sure) sizzles a little more on decel.

I have that Ohio software . Probably lock values and set it at 108 f&r cylinders. It runs stronger set at 108 f&r locked with a stock pipe.. Well at least at the seat of pants.

Tony(Jersey_thunder), did you guys richen up the low end on your track bike or do a whole fuel tune and what system did you use, if you can say? I think you guys were working with Jardine Pro Tune3 for a while. I'm still on the fence as to which one to get, if any. Bob

HEY BOB,
we tried the protune3 when it first came out..there were some bottom end issues, top end was scary..we didnt have enough time to play with it, we did speak to their R&D,JARDINE has since upgraded the tune and have been very willing to work with us to get it dailed in...we are presently working on a customers bike that wants a street/track setup..we put the RT5 on and are playing with the PROTUNE 3..stay tuned

to answer your question...we did a complete tune..based on the #2 BUELL tune with mods..

Price is about $600 for CF or SS, significantly less for aluminum. My dealer was willing to order it for me during their "bike night" sale which saved me 15% (almost $100).

Jardine HAD (and may still have) a sale where if you buy the pipe you can get the ProTune3 for $150 instead of the usual $300+. That's what I did.

I don't know if you're just curious, or if you have an opportunity to buy a used one, but the old version is no longer available --- probably a good thing, since the update was instituted in order to prevent the pipe scraping the ground at full lean.

racerxusa here on BadWeB has the old version, but I'm not sure if he still posts regularly. You might try to PM him.

The fmf does have the option of the silencer, that the jardine doesn't have. Just something to consider.

True dat.

There are plenty of times I wish it sounded just a LITTLE more pussified --- the most recent being today when the cop behind me at a red light accidentally hit her siren and lights. Seriously. I was sure I was getting a writeup until she mouthed "sorry" to me before the light changed.

The thing is loud. I set off car alarms on a regular basis. If there was a baffle for it, I'd use it.

Maybe.

How loud are we talking?
I had a 02' RC51 and I ran stock, Harris Ti slip ons and Akrapovic Full Ti, and then I went to Moto Gp style canisters. That's where I drew the line and went back to the full Akrapovics. Sure they were loud but nothing like str8 pipes on a Harley. Hell even the Moto Gp canisters weren't HD str8 pipes loud.
So how loud is the RT5 and Apex FMF with out the quite core? Are we talking big bore Ducati with full Ti Termignoni. If so that's acceptable because its mostly a deep rumble.

The RT-5 isn't as quite as loud as my friends' Harleys, most of which have fishtails.

But it IS loud enough to set off car alarms, even at idle. It is loud enough that I have begun wearing earplugs, though only on spirited runs through the canyons (not necessary on my daily commutes). Otherwise, my ears are ringing after about an hour.

I can't compare it to any of the pipes you mentioned, since I haven't heard them. My friend Zac4mac, though, says the RT-5 is a little louder than a Drummer. He also calls it a "harsher" note, but I'm not really hearing harshness.
