I had HMF exhaust and a K&N air filter with no tuner for most of the summer in my 1125r and it gained massive power over stock, i was able to roll on a wheelie in second (60-68 mph) with no clutch. last night i finally got my protuner3 installed so i took a spin today, without having it dyno'd or adjusted i lost tons of juice, pretty much took it back to stock. I'm wondering if its compensating for the afore mentioned improvements, and if i do pay the money for the dyno and adjusting will it be better than before or about the same?

Devon,

Did you connect up the O2 sensors?

Also, what are your AFV values?

On mine (with Jardine exhaust) hooking up the o2's caused a LOT of problems. The Chris Neeley at Jardine gave me the software update, had me disconnect the o2's, and it's run like a monster ever since.

2008-2009 Buell 1125R (from Jardines website)

•Load Based Technology with one number interface
•Fuel control without altering the stock fuel map
•Integrated Buttons provide easy adjustment and on the fly tuning of fuel delivery
•LED lights indicate either real time injector duty cycle or air fuel ratio
•Will not interfere with motorcycle stock sensors and inputs
•Both Race Applications as well as CARB legal versions available

Please see item #5 "will not interfere with stock sensors and inputs"

Now that brings up a question as to why Chris had you disconnect the O2 sensors? I'm wondering if the ECM will still "completely" compensate for varying changes in altitude, atmospheric pressure, air density, temperature, etc. A fair problem here in the Rockies.

I find when riding around the flats at 4200 ft. elevation I see my AFV's around 100/100 and when I do a canyon ride at mostly 7000-9000 ft. they are at about 95/95. Makes perfect sense. Thinner air the ECM takes fuel away. My muffler system, inner air box removed, 'noid disconnected. BUT maybe still lean from the factory ECM.

Was this the race version or CARB legal version referred to above? But if it works, good enough. Anybody care to comment? Chris?

Sorry, I misspoke. When I said "disconnect O2 sensors" what I intended to convey was that he had me DISCONNECT THE PROTUNE UNIT FROM THE O2 SENSORS (the early software used O2 data , whereas the new release does not). The bike's O2 sensors themselves remain functional. I apologize for the confusion.

Thanks much Mark. This unit looks likes the easiest to use with pretty good results from what people are posting. I'm still on the fence as to weather to buy or not. I'm still not completely sure I NEED it the way my bike is running. Good job bud. Bob

I seriously question non-scientific results like claims of power increases with add-on bits and pieces. If you folks really want to know what's happening, you need to use wideband O2 sensors and a data logger and the use of a disciplined, repeatable testing, eliminating as many variables as possible. Anything less cannot be trusted, seat of the pants power gains included. There are many out there that believe the hype of these exhaust system builders without adequate controlled testing. You folks do not appreciate the incredibly good performance of the factory exhaust. It is extremely difficult to better. Just observe the very flat torque curve of the package delivered from the factory. Change the exhaust to any aftermarket one out there and you will find an increase in torque in a narrow speed range and a DECREASE everywhere else, but of course it's louder, so it must be better. If you cannot observe controlled dyno runs, controlled time slips at the drag strip or better lap times on track days, you should save your money. Don't get me wrong here. I'm not saying better isn't possible, but I am saying 9 out of 10 systems sold are worse than stock. Buyer beware. If anybody thinks that any single item added on without total engine tuning for that change works out of the box, they would probably buy the Brooklyn bridge.
Steve

Steve, you are absolutely correct but miss a point many here are concerned with. We are not all looking for the ultimate H.P. or torque increases. We believe what we have for street riding, which is usually the greatest part of owning an 1125, or an occasional track day, is just fine. I for one just wanted a system with about equal performance but in a smaller package that sounded better but not objectionable loud. I believe I have achieved that on my own while many others are perfectly satisfied with their after market units.

With that said, I have stated before Buell engineered the very best stock muffler system out there. And if you want the best for H.P. get their own race system and fuel correctly. With respect, Bob

Not to mention getting rid of the jerky low rev nature of the over lean setup!

Bob, you beat me to the punch. I was going to say something very similar, adding that I also love the look (carbon fiber). Additionally, I am seeing fuel gains of nearly 5 mpg --- even though I'm sure I'm riding a little more aggressively since adding the pipe.

Steve, to be sure, if I were racing I would definitely want to see all these butt-dynos backed up with unbiased, scientific-method data (which I haven't seen much of, for this or any other system). But I'm NOT racing --- I'm just enjoying the hell out of my bike, which now looks, sounds, and (I think) performs a little better than before.

I run a carbon rt5 and ohio tuner software locked at 110 afv and notice increase at 7k up and 2k to 5k. The mid i believe is the same or dropped. Overall worth the 275 i payed for a used carbon rt5.Other findings is Second gear pulls a wheelie very easy now with no clutch or playing with the throttle.First is very snappy.I really want to dyno it to see whats the real power increase.Money is tight so maybe next year.
