"BMC/ROTAX has done an EXCELLENT job of making the latest (stock) versions/flashes as good or better than competing brands while still adhering to EPA limits. "

"I think it is likely that many of you have experienced this light throttle surging. This makes the bike very difficult and even unpleasant to ride in traffic. Many attribute this to a very lean fuel map"

I feel these two statements are at odds with each other. Although I respect that Buell has built a superb machine in many respects, and had to meet EPA requirements to do it; nevertheless the R on the 12Z flash is quite jumpy at low revs with small throttle openings (at least on two 1125s) as stated.

To say that it is fine at all the other throttle positions and rpm isn't relevant to the thread. And the thread is not a 'dead horse', either; as it's the FIRST thread I've seen in the 12 months that I've been here, on the topic of jumpy throttle at these positions.

The original poster has a solution, and not a gripe.

I realise that this is a 'fan' page and we want to give positive feedback to Buell; but we aren't meant to be sycophants, either. We all need to be open to improving, not complimenting, the 1125. If Buell doesn't know how to fix this situation, for example, that's not a failing of either the EPA's nor the 1125 owners.

I'd like to see us not jump down the throats of posters who find areas needing improvement; not every poster has the hardy constitution that I have, and I reckon many owners have been run off this site by attack dogs.

The latest round of reviews are praising the FI on the 1125, whereas it originally was a glaring weakness. Virtually all high performance motorcycles have FI issues out of the box. To say the 1125 running the latest flash is worse than any other comparable sportbike is sheer nonsense.

not every poster has the hardy constitution that I have

All I can say is "wow."

How you going with that "arsehole" when looking in the mirror, fresno? That acne clearing up for you? Been able to get a date with that football hunk you've been admiring?

My point is that "attack dogs" like you (see, you knew from my post who I was talking about) have run off some 1125 owners who could've made valuable contributions; but because there are those of you who snarl when someone (like the original poster) comes up with a solution to an actual problem, the Board is the poorer for it.

How about having an unexpressed thought for a change? Then maybe you'll get that date, after all. Your posts don't ever actually say anything: I can't think of a single actual contribution to the knowledge base that I've read in more than a year of your posts.

Redscuell,

The original poster did not come up with any solution to any actual problem...

Otherwise you would have followed suit and wouldn't have anything to bitch about.

Stick to the facts Bro.

That's funny. Don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen.
No problem with what you said Andros, it just happens a lot here.

I'd have to say that my CR is as close to perfect as the EPA will allow.

Yes, if I'm using very light throttle creeping around at 20mph, then I will get a surge as I'm sure it's running really lean. But it's a sport bike. It's not designed to ride around at 20mph. 120...yes. 20....no.

Twist the happy handle and you'll feel a very good kind of surge! : )

It's always easier to drive a slow bike fast than to drive a fast bike slow.

OT - I would PAY to see Red and Fresno in a ring with gloves on.
Maybe get this petty crap over with.

I'd rather not deal with it here anymore, thanks.

The bike CAN be made to run happily, slowly.
I don't know if I did it the "right" way, but Loretta idles on flat ground at 7 mph in 1st and 11-12 mph in 2nd.
She won't do wheelies at that rpm, but she runs and accelerates smoothly down there.
She will run without chatter down to 38 mph in 6th.

Dyno'd a couple of weeks ago at 121HP/68ft-lbs on an 87*F day with an A/F of 12.4:1 with a tail sniffer.
I'm at 5000 ft ASL and have leaned her out a bit since then.
Need to retest soon.

I didn't? It's clear you can read the maintenance manual, but if you had actually attempted this adjustment, you might recognize its value. When I showed the method to the local Buell dealer, they immediately went out and bought the tool.

"I would PAY to see Red and Fresno in a ring with gloves on.

Me, too, sounds like fun. But I agree, so pay attention: read the threads that I post to (often starting the thread) and you'll see that fresno seeks out my posts and makes her utility-free comments. On the other hand, I don't seek out fresno's posts.

So to make this "petty crap" go away, you'll have to find a way to force fresno to stop posting ANYTHING in response to mine; and it would be really nice if fresno would stop insulting EVERY Board member who posts.

The original poster likely expected us (and I think quite rightly, too) to say, "wow, that's a real contribution, we hadn't thought of that, thanks for the info", and instead got insults. None of the insults, btw, were from me.

And I'd have stopped in at my dyno tuner to discuss the balancing concept TODAY, if I hadn't been smarting from an unplanned trip to the dentist!

The ring thing does sound like fun, though. Count me in, next time I'm in USA, which could be this year. I'll bring my mates, and we'll have all have a beer after.

In deference to other member's comments, I was trying to avoid the BS, but I can't let this shit talking and lies go without comment.

I don't insult every member. Again love your fabrication and grade school gay jokes. And who could forget the previous litany about your bragging about how you bang the hookers so great. Wow you ARE the man. How old are you again?

I comment on your posts for obvious reasons. I comment on many nonsensical things on Badweb. If you or anyone else doesn't like it, that's tough.

If you ever make it to California, please let me know. I have a connection at the local boxing gym. : )

You two poke at each other like step-brothers.
You both are also long-time and(in my eye) valued contributing forum members.

The bickering just gets in the way.

Welcome to BadWeb's 1125!!!!!!!!!!

Read archives brother!

Been done way back when, with the same gauges that I posted herein with...like Spring and Summer of 2008 when the rest of us were learning.

Archives on this website has been proven your best friend if you know how to read.

I like you bro, I'm tagging you StevieWonder!

Really, nothing personal, we are all learning and that is (IMHO) the purpose of such a website for Buellers.

Best regards, have fun with your 11 but please...don't F*&K everyone else up!; )

I'm surprised this thread is still alive; personally I've been away from it for a week.

Blake: get this straight: beginning when fresno stops making personal attacks on my posts, I will stop reciprocating. I don't tolerate fools or knaves; I'm too old.

I've given you the option: fix it, or drop me from the list. I fight fair, your forum needs to provide for this. You have been warned.

The only personal attack I see in this thread is from one person...and this is case in most threads.

I think Red is confused.

Commenting on a person's post in the context of the thread is not a personal attack. If you want to see the definition of a personal attack, read an excerpt of the post below:

How you going with that "arsehole" when looking in the mirror, fresno? That acne clearing up for you? Been able to get a date with that football hunk you've been admiring?

It doesn't bother me because I consider the source and I am not nine years anymore. I do feel bad because it does pollute the thread as has been mentioned.

I've just bought my bike, latest flash and I can't find it. No surging, I can keep it around 4000rpms in all gears and no problems, it doesn't like under 2000 rpms, but will do it with a little clutch action, smoothly and easily. So far its just been smooth sailing, I keep reading these posts and expecting the worst, however, its just not happened so far. Hopefully thats a good sign of things to come. If you think this bike had problems, lol - the tubbers cried a river (though I would still love to own a white 97 S1 - a work of art!), and the first year Blasts - oy vey - geez - In comparison, this bike is a rock and I am very awed by its engineering - I read some of these posts on this board and I see much ado about nothing, and that pleases me, and the final reason why I bought my CR. And my hopes are really paying off. Black is definitely the faster color, and I'm sure its only a short amount of time before the rest of the kinks are worked out. The innovative may find their own solutions before Buell, but Buell is definitely on the ball. I am happy not to be there, instead I'm riding.

"fresno stops making personal attacks on my posts"

Attacking a post, not the person is perfectly legitimate discourse. If you can't handle it, then you need to avoid internet discussion forums.

If you can show me where Harlan has attacked you personally here, I'd like to see it. Maybe you missed the terms of use which you agreed to honor when registering to participate here, particularly the following:

By registering for participation in this Buell Motorcycle Enthusiasts' discussion board/forum I hereby agree to honor and abide by all of the following absolutely and in its entirety.

I will not post profane or vulgar language, nor will I engage in personal attacks nor in malicious derision in any form of other users of the board. I agree to treat with respect and courtesy all members of this online Buell enthusiasts' community. I realize that there is never any justification to violate this policy, and that if I do, I may forfeit my BadWeB posting privileges.

I will honor without question, debate, or argument any/all custodian/admin request(s) concerning the content and/or decorum of my contributions on the forum. I realize that there is never any justification to violate this policy, and that if I do, I may forfeit my BadWeB posting privileges. Basically, the BadWeB custodians prefer to enjoy BadWeB rather than argue with indignant or disgruntled folks.
.
.
.
I agree to treat others as I would hope to be treated myself (be excellent to each other); I will only post commentary with a respectful demeanor just as if I am speaking face to face. In all cases I will avoid flame wars and hateful, malicious, derisive, insulting or divisive commentary. I understand that malicious derisive personal commentary in any form is entirely unwelcome on BadWeB.
.
.
.
If I have a problem with content that is posted to the discussion forum, I will notify a BadWeB custodian; I will not confront either on the board or via private message or other means, the author of the post I find problematic. I will allow the BadWeB custodian(s) to address and respond to the issue.

If you wage any further personal attacks against anyone, I'll happily handle the issue as described above.

Anyway, I think two things are happening - looking for trouble where it isn't, and not waiting to see if the factory fixes the glitches. The newer owners are not seeing these problems, which means that the company is quietly addressing the issues. Buell has always been a pro-active company, if a bit slow due to HD's dragging stuff, still pro-active. Surely Buell looks at these issues, and acts! There are few vendors that respond as well as Buell in wanting to quickly resolve any issues found. The only issue I have with my bike is finding more time to ride it!
