man i wish i was familiar with another dealer in the area! i took my bike in for some work this week and for whatever reason i thought this time would be different than the last 2 times. guess what, i was wrong!
i called the dealer, told them what i needed done, asked them when would be the best time for them to do it, scheduled the appt. delivered the bike and they told me that it will be ready same time the next day(which suprised the s*** outta me scince the clutch cover took em 3.5 weeks the last time they did it). so the next day, im on my way to pick it up and i get a phone call from the dealer. they said they had to order the o rings for the clutch cover, but i will be able to pick it up the next day at 5pm. i ask him if everything else went ok with my bike. he paused and said um... ya, everything else went fine. so, today i decide to call before going to pick it up. i call at 5:30pm. they tell me well, the o rings didnt come in today, so its not done, and they had to check the recall in order to order the correct recall kit ( which when i dropped it off they told me they had all the parts for what i needed). do you think they maybe could have called to tell me this earlier in the day scince they told me i could pick it up that day. or maybe be honest about what was going on to begin with when they didnt even touch my bike the first day even though i bought it from them and i scheduled the appnt ( they have a policy that if you bought from them they put u priority drop off when u need service). man, every friggen time!!

Well, you've really got two options:

1) find another dealer, or

2) you'll just to babysit this one.

Maybe next time, when you're dropping the bike off, ask whoever you talk to at the service counter to verify that the needed parts are in stock and ready to go - look up the numbers to double check, and have him physically lay his hands on them if need be to confirm they're there.

You're already halfway there, knowing you should have called before you picked it up, assuming they wouldn't have it ready.

Mark has it. I do the same thing I "help" the dealer do their job by asking pointed questions b4 I take mine in for service. Or I find an issue and bring it by for them to look at it and then wait for the part.

I just had my 24.6k svc done and had all the required spares waiting for the tech. I just work with the Service Mgr after I've reviewed the service manual. He looks at the parts manual and finds the parts. He also checks any service bulletins to see if there are updates.

This seems to work for me and my dealer.

ive tried telln em what i need for parts n such n they tell me that they have to tear into it to find what the exactly need to order so they dont order wrong parts. its quite annoying when i have same exact issues as ppl on this forum and i made the mistake the first time w the clutch cover to say other ppl on the forum had the exact problem and this is what they needed ordered for parts... scheduled it two weeks down the road and then after they have it for a week i ask if i can have it back while they wait for parts, they say no its tore apart and no garaunty the gaskets would reseal so they wont let me have it to ride ( at the time was my only transportation) then 3 weeks later i call to see if its done and they say ya, it was done half a week ago just waitn for u to pick it up... think they called.. lol no! i get the bike back n they chipped the paint on the tranny!!!
