as mr cr is still in the shop awaiting a stator(going on 4 weeks) i was given a 2008 1125r to ride. no offense to anybody riding the 1125r but for me the cr is just way more fun to ride and seems much quicker( i'm assuming its because of the gear ratio change)as nice as the r is, in my opinion the cr just feels superior.Granted i'm comparing a 2008 to a 2009 but i was just wondering if anyone else has had the opportunity to ride both and what they think i may be a little bios as i own the cr | ||

Maybe the CR feels quicker due to the lack of wind protection? Or maybe you are mot as comfortable on the R due to less seat time? It does take some time to get used to the front fairing and riding position (if you have the high CR bars.) | ||

Don't know... I remember reading, I think here, that the overall gearing makes 6th gear on the CR the same as 5th on the R. Pretty significant. A lot more punch at around town speeds... R | ||

I just traded my XB. I rode both the R & CR within minutes of each other...and on a test route through twisties and highway. I liked the roll-out of the CR through the turns; however, while on longer rides to get to the twisties, the CR & XB bounced my head around. At normal highway speeds the R moves most of the air away from your hands, chest and head. I decided on the R. I am getting use to the forward riding position. IMHO the position sets you up easier for the turns. I have no complaint regarding the roll-out responsiveness of the R. | ||

I prefer the power drive out of corners of the CR, but I prefer the low speed qualities of the R. When you are chugging along in traffic, the CR slaps the cush drive around. The R doesn't seem to do it as badly. | ||

your right the cr's gearing i find is a little tricky for regular in town driving i find it to touchy at high rpm or chugs real bad at low rpm.But as far as the fun factor i have to go with the cr i love every minute i ride it and find that i treat the r as just another means of transportation, well that sounds a little harsh it would be my second choice for a bike | ||

Yeah...Fatty doesn't have the CR demo anymore. Some big tall goofy ba$tard bought it. LOL!  I must be very fortunate, because the fueling, gearing, etc...on my CR is perfect. I wouldn't change it. | ||

I tested a red cr and thought it was to 'snatchey' at low speeds. kept banging in the gearbox when going on and off the throttle. Haven't tried an R yet. | ||

If it was doing anything in the gearbox, it had a problem. The transmission on the 1125 is as good as it gets. Even the Buell hating moto mags give the transmission high marks. I guess I'm used to the air cooled motor, because the 1125CR is sooooo smoooooth. | ||

The "banging in the gearbox" is the cush drive. It has some slack in it and is really noticeable at low speeds/RPMs. | ||

I don't know...never had one. The dang thing shifts telepathically. I've been getting more and more used to the 1125. Pulled my first wheelie coming out of a turn the other day. FANTASTIC. Front end skating just off the tarmac and the bike accelerating like a bat out of hell. | ||

I think I have seen what you are talking about with the "false neutrals". I've noticed it moving bikes around. It's like there is a delay between when the bike is actually in neutral and when the light comes on. I've seen the light linger past when I know it's no longer in neutral. | ||

no i mean when shifting from 5th to 6th, it doesnt go into 6th, and just revs, then you have to kick it up into 6th with some authority, and have it "pop" into 6th. Very discerning and not fun... I know im not the only one as others have reported it, but i have yet to hear why it does it?? Jake | ||

Don't know about that. Have you adjusted the shifter lever to try to get a little more positive shift? | ||

I'd try that and see if you can rule out any human/machine interface problems first. It may just be a lazy shift or a lever that is set too high. I could be a problem with the transmission, but I'd think you'd have problems in other gears. It's not jumping out of 5th or 6th gear is it? | ||

It's a known thing, 5-6th false neutral happens from time to time. Happened to one of the reviewers of the CR I think too. Doesn't happen all that often anyway. |
