I used Syn 3 at the 1st change, then switched to Silkolene (have a few gallon jugs of it laying around).

whos coolant mix do you use?

Haven't changed it yet, so can't comment.

how do you tighten the mirror stalks & heads up?

The base attachment can be "tightened" up by either peening it, or replacing with a bolt & nut (nylock). The mirror vibrations can be reduced by the judicious use of RTV silicone around the glass.

any other comments?

Start shopping for tires now.

a few drops of thread lock on the pivots will keep the mirror stalks from drifting, ever.

probably not the best idea to make your stalks COMPLETELY solid, unless you want to break your magnesium fairing support. ignore that post by badlionsfan.

Hey Oldog,

I bet that was a long ass ride, lol. I just changed the oil in mine at 500 miles. I used Mobil 1 V-twin full synthetic 20w50. I have read a lot of good things about the oil and my wifes new Mercedes states to use only Mobil 1 Syn in it. So it has to be good.

I used Amsoil in the Harley I just traded, it seemed like good oil, but all the MLM marketing that goes on drives me nuts on that oil, so I opted for the Mobil 1. I found it at Autozone for about 10 bucks a quart which isn't bad.

I had thought of going with Royal Purple or Redline, but it is not available around here and I didn't want to wait that long to not ride. The bike runs cooler and seems smoother so I think it was a good choice.

I use Redline Full Synthetic 20W-50 motorcycle oil.

For coolant, I switched to Redline SuperCool (a mixture of deionized water and Water Wetter, with no ethylene glycol whatsoever), for the hot Texas summer and I'm enjoying outstandingly cool engine temps.
