Hey, I'm just as guilty as the next guy in terms of using the gas to get out of the way of an inattentive driver - but I have no dilusion that it's somehow a safe method. I do it because it lets out a little anger on my part, and lets the other driver know how I feel about them.

I taught driving for a long time - trust me, the gas should be your last option when getting out of danger.

"a dangerous mindset"

That sums up my outlook well. Thanks.

There are as many different ways out of a situation as there were to get into it.

Sometimes a violent leap from the footpegs is a solution.
Sometimes a stoppy will work.
Sometimes your best bet is to slide under something.
Sometimes dropping two gears and going WFO is the best course.

I've done all these but one, at one time or another.

Driving ain't riding. The one advantage that we have is that we can out maneuver the cagers. I would much rather get in front of the danger, then slow down and get in the middle of it. Throttle is good in most cases.

You wouldn't catch me on a Blast or scotter cause you are sitting duck.

Zack,
Been there done that, good advice! Never did the slide under though, I decided to slide my ZX7R on its side once (that sucks), but not under an object!

You can't really prepare because you don't know the situation until it presents itself, just be calm and confident when it arrives you have a solution!
