CCryder - yep the belt drive design is excellent, had to fit a free spirits tensioner to the XB12R when I had that though, the tension changes for wheel movement looked a bit high on full shock extension.

When I get a moment I intend to remove the spring form the rear shock, refit the shock and stroke the rear wheel through the full suspension travel and record the variations if any for each half inch of wheel movement just to put my mind at rest, need to see if the rear drive sprocket is on the same centre as the swinging arm pivot, if it is it will make the check redundant, I am 250 miles away from my bike working in London this week.

Oh and when a belt snaps it doesnt risk smashing the engine cases as a chain does either

Fresno - I don't give a rat's behind what my friends think, hence the 1125R. I just think a sport bike should have a chain. The fact it works well but looks silly too me are two different things. A Prius works fine but they look like crap.

I'm a function over form guy.

Doesn't matter what it looks like, as long as it works, and works well.

I just think a sport bike should have a chain.

A sportbike should also have conventional front brakes and a typical gas tank.
