Just need to vent.

I brought my Buell in for warranty work on the clutch which was completely out of fluid and for my brake rotor which was warped and pulsates during braking.

This was a scheduled day which I made an appointment for. I had told them please have it done within 3 days because I go on a long ride. They never called me once on the third day so I called them. They had the nerve to tell me there was some kind of confusion, it wasn't even put on the lift yet. When it was finished, I picked it up to find that my battery was dead, my right mirror completely broken, there was grease caked on my clutch lever, and supposedly the bike was washed but looked filthy. What really pissed me off... it looked like someone crashed the mirror into a wall because there is a scuff on the fairing also. Someone knew it was broken but didn't say anything. Probably hoping the customer would pick it up without noticing. Oh but I noticed, the thing just flaps in the wind.

If you put your self in my shoes, im already pissed having to bring the bike in for more warranty work only to get the bike back with more broken parts. The flipping time isn't even set, my service odometer isn't set, grease on my seat. This is F****** embarrassing. I called the service manager to complain. All he says "The only thing we can do is say we are sorry and we'll make sure to fix your mirror."

There is some sort of monopoly going on here. Their service sucks, but no one wants to travel 100 miles to the next dealer.

well man, I am sure you are angry, but maybe you should ask the service manager to take the bike back in and give it his personal attention in making sure to address all of your concerns, and be specific, maybe hand him a list.?

Give him the chance to be a hero, because I bet he spends half his day listening to people trying to make him feel like a zero.

A lot of times even though you are not happy with the service guys, if you give them a chance to make it right they will try real hard to make you happy. They are human like anyone else.

Imshaun,

There are two ways to go about this.


You can have this event as the first in a long stream of progressively worse experiences ending in your head exploding.

OR

You can get to know the service manager. Allow him to correct this issue. Allow him to use this issue to train his people to do a better job. Allow him to make you happy. When he does this, send a thank you email to the owner of the dealership telling of the situation and how appreciative you are that the service manager was able to correct the issue and reflect the great service that you've come to expect from the dealership.

Make sure you CC the service manager.



You have to decide RIGHT HERE whether you want to fix the issue or whether you want to have the issue to complain about.

thats exactly right. I had issues with my dealer at first too with service cuz they kept puttin it off and orderin wrong parts but when i addressed the issue with the higher ups ( service mngr, gen mngr, owner ) they went above and beyond to make it right. If I were you i'd take pics and show them to the service mngr when you take the bike back and tell him your concerns. give him the chance to make it right if he blows you off ( which he won't ) take it to the general manager or dealership owner. give the dealer a chance trust me you'll be glad you did.

Thats sad .This is exactly why I did my own 12k service.Lets face it folks "bike mechanics">>>>The guy that slams a case a night fixed your bike.LOL

I agree with Ft_bstrd, but unfortunately this happens all too often. The 1125 I am picking up Sat. from Bumpus, I would love to be able to do my services there everytime, which hell, I am 7 hours away and I still might drive there and let them do it.

But, in reality, you can do a lot of the services yourself if you are comfortable working on things and have done it before. I can say that when I took my Night Train in for it's 5k service, it came out of there acting like a new machine. The clutch felt great, etc. so you do have a lot of quality people working on the bikes, just finding the right dealership could be hard.

Like Ft_bstrd said, talk to the service manager or his manager and see what can be done. I would be extremely pissed just like you though, that kind of negligence is ridiculous......
