Ok Love the 25r, so far have 3 track days on her. Seems like the front end is too soft, got the suspension cranked up pretty much max, 1/2 turn out from hard for both comp and rebound. Turned preload in 12 turns on front and at position 7 on rear preload. Anyone have the new fork inserts from Buell, do they help?? I am a little 260lbs rider who rides pretty aggressive on track. Can i get just some heavier springs, heavier oil work any?? thks | ||

Heavier oil won't change the spring rate any (obviously), and it will affect the rebound dampening more than the compression. I think in your case you'd want to see if you could find springs matched for your weight. If you want to spend more cash, there are more than one aftermarket cartiges you can get. I'll let those who know better chime in. | ||

http://traxxion.com/forkspringratechart.aspx You can kinda check your best spring rate for the forks - you really should consider re-springing the forks for your weight. Cheap. Add some re-valving... more pricey Add cartridges... even more pricey. at least springs. Might even check the rear. Easiest way is to measure sag directly on both ends. You should not exceed 35mm in front, 25mm rear. (ballpark both) - if you have the adjustment MAXED out, and still sag more then you definitely need stiffer springs. Suspension is cool - good suspension is awesome. | ||

You could try to find a set of the early 08 fork springs. they were stiffer before they went to a softer spring rate. | ||

how hard is it to change teh springs in our forks? i've done it on my cruiser is it about the same? or harder? | ||

Get springs matched to your weight and a revalve job. Traxxion would be a great place to go. I plan to do this in the winter. I have an early 08 with the heavy springs and they work for me, but I am at the very top of the range. Lighter springs will be installed in conjunction with the revalve job. | ||

Find a race tech dealer in your area and get your forks resprung to your weight, and revalved to your skill level. Also, good fluids will prevent the forks from becoming sloppy when they get hot. It's worth it if you are planning on going to the track often. | ||
