Can't recall who it was, but someone had posted about making a db killer(that did not work) for their D&D. Here is my question- I can get the "baffle" *LoL* to spin, and pull out about 1.5 inches, no more. Is it just super tight packing holding it in? (after removing endcap of course) or is there some sort of retainer deep in the pipe? Seems like I just gotta eat my wheaties, but don't want to waste all morning twisting and pulling on something that just aint gonna move. Thanks in advance.Pauly K

What are you trying to do here, Bott?

Copy you, and "tone it down a bit". No-one wants to ride near me. Even at idle, it's INSANELY loud. I don't have too high of expectations, but any less obnoxious is a plus. I had a 2 1/2 inch baffle from an x-brother-in-law's Honda. I'm just about done. The d&d's internal is actually flanged on the instream end, so I have plenty of room to screw my insert in, without being too "thick" to re-install.

well...other than spending quality time with my 'Raquel' and getting to know her pipe's innards, I can't tell any difference in tone or volume. Oh well, beats mowing the lawn for a morning...
I only made my insert around 4 inches, maybe it's just too short.

Does the inside of the D&D stay a consitent diameter in the can portion? What did your insert look like?

You're going to want something like a Harley-style baffle (this is what I used based on Buell03's advice).

The baffle I used, uncut, would be really effective in a tube-style muffler like the D&D has.

Yup,same diameter with about an 8 inch baffle. It has fairly heavy gauge tubing at both ends, so I will try again at some point. The baffle I used for the insert is dimpled/notched in a rotating pattern, apparently to swirl gasses and create turbulence to quiet things. I'm pretty sure I cut it too short to be very effective. I used some half inch aluminum flatstock screwed to the insert as a spacer, and stainless self tapped the unit inside the low end of the pipe's baffle. Should have cut it in increments, rather than cutting it in half right away.

Good luck with the baffle! Post pics when done please, I have considered asking my local muffler shop to try one out for me.
