Thought I'd share:

I just ran across a foreign website called Zas Racing. Under the tab "Catalogo", there's a Buell section. Click 1125R and a fairing set is shown, including a picture of a fully installed and painted kit... low and behold I think I see actual frame sliders on an 1125R!!! I emailed them, hoping the spanish translation makes it across okay. I'd like to know where they sourced the sliders from.

The radiator pods, from personal experience, can stand to do a little better at frame protection... not to mention the fact that the radiators stand the chance of being damaged under the pod compression during a hard impact.

I will update you all if and when I receive a response!

Nice stuff, reasonably priced when translated to USD.

I called my bud and had him read me the site! ; )

Those are the brackets that attach to the lower fairing, the one that goes under the exhaust. They can be seen in the picture of the full painted bike, under the foot peg.

I have bought parts from ZAS racing and they are well priced but shipping is very expensive (even to the UK). They don't speak very good English but can get by using part numbers : )

The parts are good quality, and they supply the Spanish one make 1125R race series and the XR1200 race series (see web site for 2008 here http://www.bbqseries.com/bbq2008.php)

I wrote them last Tuesday for more info, prices, etc. but have not heard back. Has anyone been in contact with them lately?

It took me 3 or 4 attempts to get in touch with them originally. In the end I went through a friend who was in Spain at the time and he phoned them.

Capitantem,

You wrote, "Those are the brackets that attach to the lower fairing, the one that goes under the exhaust. They can be seen in the picture of the full painted bike, under the foot peg."

--Are you responding to my question about the frame sliders?

Just to clarify, since no one has mentioned the sliders. I'm looking at the black pieces that stick out right around where the forward engine bolt is. They are under the frame, but forward from and above the right exhaust header. They sure look a lot like frame sliders to me. Anyone else think that's what I'm looking at?

I still have not heard back from the company.

Looks like frame sliders to me too. Does anybody have friend in Spain? Or at least one fluent in Spanish who can make an inquiry for us? I haven't thrown my scoot' on the ground yet but, it's probably just a matter of time.

Ah, I see it now Torquaholic, you're right, those are sliders, hard to see. But they are not listed on the web page. I thought you were refering to the brackets (last picture in the Zas Racing list).
I'm in Spain, I can give them a call if you want, even though I don't like that kind of sliders.

I for one would appreciate your giving them a shout. I'm not crazy that kind of slider either but I'm not sure there are any good alternatives. Something like the frame pucks they have for the Ulysses might work but I don't know if it's a good idea to mount anything around there that might inhibit the airflow off the radiators. And with all the extra heat, I'm not aware of any adhesive that would stick them on tight enough.

Capitantem, I don't think Zas makes the sliders, but since they show the products on their test bikes, I think they may know where to find them. If you get to talk to them tomorrow, I also would very much appreciate you letting us know what they say about the sliders! Thanks so much

I've called them and left a message on the answering machine, will try again this afternoon.
But looks to me they're standard sliders as the ones on the Suzukis screwed with a longer bolts here:

I have called them a couple of times and no answer. They may be on vacation. Sorry guys, I can try again in September if you're still interested.

Most of the European vendors close for either all or most of August (it is a pain for those of us in countries that don't!) so you may find that they won't be around until September. However, I believe that teh frame sliders are not made by ZAS racing as they just make glassfibre bodywork. The XR1200 race series in Spain also use frame protectors from an unknown source.

We can get full length carbon fibre frame protectors for the 1125 from Ilmberger carbon parts that are extremely effective (we have been using similar sliders on our XB's for years). These cover the full length of both left and right frame rails and are backed by kevlar for increased abrasion resistance.

Not the cheapest in the world at GBP420 a pair (US$680 approx) but I'll bet they are the lightest and best looking : )

Hi,
Just to inform that Ultimate Rider, in association with Zas-Racing, started to ship Zas Racing fairings from Portugal. The fairings get 35€ more expensive but the shipping costs are much, much, much, cheaper.
Take a look at the webpage http://ultimaterider.net
