I absolutely had to have a lower seat, and a taller windscreen, to finally make me happy with my 09 R. The latter I got in the form of Zero's touring screen; superb workmanship and design.

The seat was another matter. The Corbin I bought wasn't demonstrably lower so I sold it (at a loss, of course) immediately; then made my own, which drops me 3" (measured).

Here are some pics. It's not for everybody, though it's not at all uncomfortable. Better to call it a "combat" or "race" seat as it's very lightly padded.

Cool look, Red! I would have left the white padding to go along with the theme of your bike, though keeping it clean would have likely been a problem.

2 questions.

First, how tall are you?
Second, did you use the lower foot pegs to give more leg room since the seat and pegs are 3" closer together.

Yes, I used dropped pegs for the rider AND for the pillion (I use the pillion pegs while riding on the freeway, to get my chest down onto the 'tank'). I'm 5'10". With this seat I can 'flatfoot' the bike around the garage, for example. And what I call the 'crouching tiger, hidden dragon' syndrome is gone (feeling crouched very high above a wobbly machine).

5'10" and you had to lower the seat? Do you have a particularly short inseam? I am 5'10" with a 30" inseam and I find this bike to be pretty low actually.

It is very reasonable seat height in stock form.

Red, what kind of exhaust is that? Kudos on the seat mod, you have more natural @ss padding than I... lol.

About the seat too, if it works for you then go with it! It's your bike, and since you had some issues with fitment it looks like you are getting it all tweaked out now.

Do you have that pad there all the time or just certain times of the month?

i peeled the cover off my race bike 1125r seat, shaved the cushion foam on my bandsaw and stapled the cover back on. at 5'6" i was having issues with the geometry of getting my knee down. i get a better extension now. i have always had to dismount to manuever a bike once stopped.

That's some very interesting mods Red.
I like the muffler mod, I never would have imagined that way of opening it up.
I think the windscreen looks weird, but if it blocks more wind...

I have a Firebolt Select seat, can't imagine sitting on one HARDER than OEM issue.

I'm glad you kept the 11 and are making it fit you better.
This is "truly an amazing motorcycle" as Court likes to say.

Yes some very interesting mods. I'm with Zac, I can't imagine day-to-day riding on a seat like that, just call me a Wuss (that's ok).

I can't flatfoot this bike but I also have a Rick Mayer modified seat and it's .5"-.75" taller than stock but, my butt is in a state of bliss.

I have the ZG Double Bubble screen and it makes a big difference in a couple of small ways (does that make sense??).

I realize this is an old post but was the lower seat worth the discomfort comfort?? I love this idea and I'm just wondering if I am going to regret doing this on every trip I do that's more than 5 minutes?
