Anyone notice the 08 oil spec is 3.0 QT. While the 2010 is 3.3 Qt. What gives same motor, I know this oil level has been kicked around a bunch but my oil light always comes on for a flash at start up with 3.0 Qt. Wonder if I should add some? Anyone else have the same issue? Mine is an 08 of course.

I'm pretty sure the light comes on at start up for the same reason that it does in a car: to let you know that the light works.

i think he means that the light stays on for a couple of seconds after the motor has been started. that's the way mine is too. it should stay on before the motor is started.

3 quarts is correct. The engine/oil lights come on every time you start. My engine light goes out (indicating okay to start) and the oil light goes out a second or so after starting. Has always been this way for me personally.

+1 Ponti, esp cold starts when the oil is at the bottom of the engine. It takes a sec or two for the sensor to recognize the presence of oil, cuz it takes the oil a second or two to be present.

The oil light has to be on for a bit until pressure is up to the bottom threshold to shut the light down.

Yea, it goes through the initial start up deal the engine light goes out, I start the bike then the oil light comes on for a couple of seconds as it is warming up. It never did that out of the box.Just after the first oil change. Anybody know why the different oil capacity for the 2010?

I called BS on the 3Qt capacity and only putting in 2.7Qt at oil change when I did the initial. It took 3Qt to get the level on the (suck ass) dipstick to read between the add and full marks. Mine was way overfull when deliverd, I drained almost 4 quarts. I'm sure the dealer checked it on the side stand and added untill it read right. When I asked them about the updated oil check procedure that was supposed to be in my owners manaul I got a confused look.

Maybe the extra .3 is needed in order for the oil to make it through the additional "plumbing" to support the new sight glass?
