While riding today my 08 1125R started acting stupid. It would stall/shut off when the throttle was moved just past idle. Occasionally it would do it without having a hand on the grip. At one time I had a hard time leaving from idle as it felt like the bike was loading up. Anything over 3500 and it ran fine. The Instrument cluster shows a code of P0506- Idle Air Control system - RPM higher than expected The instrument cluster display shows a 101 under IAC Control I removed everything to expose the IAC and didn't see anything out of the ordinary (unplugged connector, vacuum hose off, pinched wires). According to the code it says the idle is to high (is is around 1500-1700). Is this as simple as adjusting the idle? Anyone had something similar happen? Sure it could go to the dealership however I'd prefer not to. All these bikes will eventually be out of warranty than we'll be dealing with this than. | ||

hmmm, according to the o.m. , the idle is fixed, and cant be adjusted. maybe dealer has a way. Would be very interesting to see or read a way to adjust idle. please post up any results/remedies, as your 'fix' may just open up a way for anyone to idle down our machines. watching with great interest.I know some other members have been working on this, not for a problem, rather for an adjustment sorry to be of no help,though. | ||

Maybe it's a TPS problem? The ECM thinks the throttle is closed because the TPS isn't indicating the throttle position change. It interprets this as an IAC problem because the engine is apparently speeding up even though it doesn't "see" the throttle being opened. | ||

I'd try a TPS reset for the hell of it first, just to say you did. | ||

It is funny you guys say this as this is EXACTLY what I thought it was prior to checking the codes. I don't have my manual in front of me, how do I go about resetting the TPS? | ||

Used the search function  1. Set the Run/Stop switch to the Run position. 2. Turn the ignition key to the On position. 3. With the engine off, rotate the throttle grip from its closed throttle position to the wide-open throttle position and back to closed position three (3) times, holding the throttle grip against eash stop (open and closed) for one (1) full second. 4. Ok I reset the TP sensor, no luck. So I pulled the air box off as well as the throttle bodies. There was a lot of oil like substance around the fittings connecting the IAC sensor to the throttle bodies. So I removed the IAC sensor and thoroughly cleaned it, the fittings and the throttle bodies. Put it all back together and it was better but not correct. I checked the IC in Diag mode and the IAC setting was moving all over the place, hmmm. I toggled the ignition a few times and the IAC setting stopped moving. I started the bike and chopped the throttle a few times. No stalling but a few times it was close. Test time, off to my favorite closed course. A few hot laps and than back to the shop. On my way back I blipped the throttle a few times as this would previously stall the bike, all was good. In the garage and a few more blips of the throttle, still good. The code is still there but the bike is behaving better. I'll go check it again and finish putting it back together after typing this. | ||

so, did you do the "ride count" setting to 49 to clear the code? | ||

Not yet. I was told how to do it last night. Now I need to figure out how to apply it to the bike. Mechanically I'm fine, computer/program wise I lack.  | ||
