It was an easy install, but I also wired some Kuryakyn LED Bolt Lights so that it would have some light on the license plate. It's amazing how heavy the OEM part really is comparatively.

I put mine on in about 20 min. used stock signals. had to take out the bolts for the tail and lift it so that I could get at the left side signal wires, and I took out the tail light and used a dremel to cut away the plastic that covers the built in clear lens in the tail light for the plate lighting but it was really easy.

I got one and am very happy with it. Installation was pretty easy ( there was a little squeezing to get the blinker wires through the grommets if I recall), build quality is good, and it looks great.

I would have preferred to get a light with it, would have paid extra to get the option, and considered an alteration (such as drilling/dremelling under the taillight) to get some light on the plate. In the end, I did nothing, and have gotten no grief from LEO's here in So Cal.

Allow me to be more specific about the surgery I spoke of earlier.

If you look at the underside of the taillight housing, you will see that there is actually a translucent white plastic piece inside the outer black housing. Some others have used a dremel or x-acto knife to shave off a small area --- say 1 x 0.5 inch --- from the black housing (only), thereby exposing what becomes a white lens/light cover. This allows some of the light from the taillight to be redirected to the plate. My thought is that it should take about 10 minutes.

For a few bucks, the other popular option is to buy the lighted license plate bolts (I think they are also called "krommets"). Here you are paying a few bucks, but the operation is reversible.
