Could someone please post up a fairly close pic of the snake gripskins from AmericanSportbike installed on an 09 R? Pretty set on a purchase, just need to see them, preferably on a black (fastest) bike.
Thanks

Looks kinda lacking in the "gripping area" but a very "riveting" look in general... thanks Jaime LoL

I have the regular Techskins, not the Snakeskins... sorry I can't help more. They do work VERY well, though!

dumb question, but you checked their site, right??

techspec-usa.com

i was at a track day with the tech spec guys a few weekends ago, and got into a convo about their product. i chuckled for a second and said 'ha well when you come up with a product for my oddball bike(and i point to my 1125), ill buy one; your grips look bada$$.'

he looked at my bike and said 'yep we sell a good number of 1125 pads. ill give you a discount when you call up for yours'

needless to say, my order for the snakeskin went in this week. ill take a pic of it when i install it next week, but i imagine youd want a pic now.

i dont think youll be disappointed with either pad design choice.

the snakeskin is thicker and grips more aggressively. the high fusion is very thin and grips less aggressively.

Yea Pizza, I checked their website LoL , but all they show is a pic of what looks like a crooked fitting install on an '08. Strangely enough, its also listed as fitting *07* thru 09 models. The 07 I have never seen , but the 08 pic makes the product fit like shizz. That's why I am looking for a members photo. Looks like I'm waiting on your post. Thanks in advance.

I think I'm going to get the Tech Spec gripskins (snakeskin), too. Problem is that I'm going to have to get rid of my Buell Airbox cover mask...

Although, do you think I can attach the gripster pads right on to the cover mask itself? Hmmm...

They look really good, too (this bike probably belongs to somebody here)

Tech spec sells on-line for $64.95 (without tank/airbox protector)... seems steep compared to some other retailers. I've seen it for at least $10 less...

front upper section of it LOOKS crooked. Can someone please verify that its just the photo, due to the curve in the frame?

Probably more "kneed" than "cooked"

I have them on my xb12s and like them. If they are crooked it's probably user error. You can take them off and put them on again they say. I got them from American Sport Bike and have nothing but good to say about those folks.

The way the skins are laid out on the 1125, it looks like they would be great help when stopping (as your knees tighten against the bike). But I'm not so sure they'll help so much when hanging off the bike...

See how the Honda (CBR600) version wraps AROUND the tank:

You can also see it on the ZX-10R (but, granted, this has something to do with the shape of the tank itself):

That way, when hanging off, your outside knee/shin, which is applying pressure close to the top edge of the tank, has some grip skin under it.

I don't like how there is no gripskin coverage along the upper edge of the airbox cover in the 1125R version: note the gap between the buckle protector and upper gripskin.

Might be best to get the custom version "General Sheet" of this stuff and cut your own to your needs...

And another thing: I don't think the gripskin needs to be on the 1125R's frame... most of the pressure is applied to airbox cover when stopping or leaning. Given the temperatures the frame sees, I'd be concerned about the long-term effects to the gripskins.

Don't be concerned. And the gripskins do a terrific job of insulating your LEGS from the frame heat, too!

Easy for you to say, your frame is already black. Mine is an '08 blue and covering it up is just wrong!

Too bad they don't have the gripskins in blue, or clear.

Anyone every try applying CF "sticker" sheet to the bike? It comes in like 6 mil which may not be thick enough to help with the heat nor would its slick surface be good for hanging off the bike but it may look tight and be affordable. Not everything has to be practical.

These grips are clear but they don't have Buell-specific patterns. You'd have to buy the universal ones and cut them to fit.

I'm thinking I might do this, because I have the full Techskins set, but I only used the frame pads because I didn't want to cover up my red airbox with black rubber. I can use the Techskins as a "pattern" for cutting the Stomp grips and use THOSE on the airbox.

Hmmmmmmmm...

The only issue I've heard with Stompgrips is that you have to be careful with the installation because if you have any trapped air bubbles, it tends to look unsightly.

That's why some people actually like the Tech-Spec gripskins, because they are opaque and you can't see the bubbles.

And regarding the clear 3M stuff, I have it installed on my pods, you can see it here:

And, up close, you can see air bubbles, but I figure it's better to have the protection in case I get clumsy (so far, so good!). The surface of this stuff actually isn't that slick, but probably too slick to be a substitute for actual gripskins.

Yeah, I was speaking to Dylan Code at my last Superbike School session at NJMP. They used to sell the Stomp grips but have switched over to Techskins for pretty much the same reason.

He told me that not only was it hard to install them properly, but it didn't take long for them to look like crap on the bike, too. Especially on their school bikes that get a LOT of use and abuse on the track.

I DOUBT my 1125R would ever see that kind of abuse. I'm still thinking about it... haven't made any decisions yet.
