Has anyone had a problem with the hot exhaust blowing right back onto the rear brake assembly? Is there a diverter available to deflect the exhaust out and/or down? | ||

No diverter unless you make new outlets yourself. No problem with the rear brake, either. The exhaust does make the rear wheel nice and dirty though!  | ||

I got tired of cleaning the soot off the rear wheel & brake assembly too, so I added these turnouts to the tips. It cost me $6.40 for the elbows to be formed then I trimmed them to my liking.    | ||

A very nice modification. One can't help but wonder why BMC hasn't done this. Exhaust gases directed from the stock muffler to the brake disc and rear wheel is just poor engineering. I don't recall any other motorcycle that does this. Buell Motor Company, are you listening? Dave Bradenton Fl | ||

Avc8130 No they are not welded on, I just went to a muffler shop and the guy just took two scrap pieces of tubing and put a 45 degree bend in them and then expanded one end to make a nice snug fit on the origional tips. I then took them home and welded a long nut perpendicular across the expanded back side about 3/4 inch from the end then I split the pipe and the long nut (cut it in half) then drilled out one side of the long nut up to the split and slid them on and I used allen head bolts in the long nuts to tighten them on to the stock tips then I trimmed the extended ends with a hack saw to just stick out a little past the swingarm. Cleaned up all of the cut edges with a 1/2" drum sander in my dremel then added a little high temp black paint. | ||
