Am frustrated with my 1125r. My speedometer has gone out twice in last year. The display will show 0 mph and occasionally the engine light will go on while I am moving. It usually corrects itself quickly. The first time the speedo was changed really quickly by shop. Now my bike is in shop for more than a week and no news. Any one else have this problem? Also want to ride to laguna seca at beginning of july. If bike is not ready should I take it out for trip?

I'm having a problem with the speed and gear read outs on my 1125CR. While riding the speed read out goes to zero and the gear goes to "-" disengaged. If I honk the horn the speed and gear read outs will correct themselves or if I just do nothing after a while they come back. Seems to be more frequent when I first start riding and less and less throughout the day.

The dealer called Buell Tech regarding the problem and Buell Tech said that nobody else had reported a similar problem.

Where is the speed sensor? Mine does it all the time and finally. I got a check engine light for it.

Might want to PM Adoogie3, he had a similar problem and it ended up being a trans problem. The air gap to the sensor was changing causing the speedo to function erratically.

Remove air flow guide from right side of bike over the crank case held in with 1 screw. You will see the VSS with 1 fastener. Remove fastener. When re-installing torque VSS fastener about 97"lbs. Reinstall airflow guide, torque 34"lbs. If it keeps acting up take the bike in and they can gather the error code and order new and reinstall under warranty. Then make sure all was put back togther properly. Good luck. Cleaning the VSS did not cure the prob for me. Had to get the VSS replaced.
