Im so frustrated right now! Heres the deal:

I took my bike apart for paint, new exhaust, tires, and some PM. I got everything back together and now it wont start!

I got it to start on a power charger, but noticed a few things when it got going.

1. It wont run by itself. No matter how long you leave it on the charger running, as soon as you take it off it dies.

2. It wont read AT. It read Engine Temp, but not AT, it just sits at 0.

3. Only one of the fans was one....not sure if thats common or not but I just noticed it.

I thought for sure it was the battery (I think I may have left the key on while it was apart) but the fact that the AT wont read is throwing me off. Is there some kind of sensor for the AT that could be unplugged and making it not run right? Ive checked everything I did over 3 times for unlugged stuff but everything seems to be plugged in.

Im baffled, someone help!

BTW, for PM I changed the air filter, topped off the coolant, changed the oil, and tried to change the plugs.....that didnt work because the front one doesnt have enough clearance, but everything with the plugs is reconnected and back how it was.

Would a weak battery not allow it to read AT for some reason?

My battery died on me after I let it sit for a couple of weeks. I tried starting it before the battery was fully charged. I go the same thing. It would try to run but wouldn't stay running. AT read 0. Someone on here mentioned the Ambient Temp sensor also tells the ECM the outside temp which affects how it fuels the engine. On any electronically controlled engine battery voltage is critical for the ECM to operate properly and for sensors to read correctly.

Always start simple. Check battery and connections and fuses first.

Mike

I checked all the connections and fuses, and I was just waiting for someone to tell me exactly what you just told me! LOL. I was figuring it was the battery, but like I said, the AT was throwing me off. So thank you very much!

Also, is it normal for only one fan to run?

Depends on the engine temp. One comes on at 172 and the second comes on at 185 or thereabouts.

Got it fixed, thanks a ton for the advice.
