Since I broke my elbow in a bicycle accident I have a bit of time where I won't be riding any motorcycles. I'm looking to paint my 1125R a silver metallic. Searching here on all of badweb has yielded a little info on what others have done. It seems like the best results could be attained using the techniques in this link: http://www2.dupont.com/Surlyn/en_US/assets/downloa ds/reflections_coating_guide.pdf

There seem to be a few different options in that dupont instruction though. What has anyone done to their bike that worked well?

Also, where can I purchase all of these supplies? I have a decent air compressor, and Home Depot seems to sell those sprayers for maybe $45. Where is a good place to buy the paint/clearcoat/adhesion promotor/flex agent?

Automotive paint/ body shop supply store should have everything you need. Even some of the napa stores in my area have an impressive supply of paint supplies on hand.

Rainman1ne (Justin) is who you're thinking about. He works at an auto-body shop down the road from me.

I actually just did mine Silver. It looks fantastic! Ill get pic up soon, but anyways the guy that did it is a friend of mine and he told me that he had to put a crap load of flex additive in the paint because the 1125 plastic is kind of "rubbery"....I was gonna try to do it myself because I have a paint set up, but im glad I didnt now....this guy that did mine is good (owns his own paint shop) and he said he had trouble figuring out what would work best.

Hmm, too bad for me I don't know any paint/bodywork guys. I'm thinking the price that a pro would charge me would mean the bike would remain white forever.
