A fellow Bueller and I decided to swap out front ends on our bikes. I wanted the CR and he wanted the R. It turned out good and looks great IMO, but it was alot more work than I ever imagined. We both thought going in that lights, fairings and upper triples was all involved. As we each tore into our bikes we kept in constant contact through email as we discovered other thing we would need to swap. As it turns everything but the forks and front wheel need to be swapped. The lower triple has 2 holes machined in to accept the CR headlight assembly, the ignition is so much different that the easiest fix was to swap ignitions, keys and rear pillion lock set. Did you catch that? We didnt think of it either. The gas cap is also keyed. OOPS! We live 3 states away and after we had met, swapped parts, I re-assembled my bike, test drove it and pulled into the gas station to top off, I realized it. OOPS! Great learning experience and I really am happy with it. I wanted the CR from the beginning but couldn't pass on the deal on the 08R. If anyone decides to tackle this transformation, look me up and I'll guide you through the what I learned the hard way. Thanks to Ryan for working with me and making the long ass drive. I met a another great Bueller as well.Pics follow

Now that you are familiar with the procedure how many hours would you guess it would take?

Your work looks very professional.

If both bikes were side by side on stands it might take half a day if I were to do it all over again. Thanks for the comment.

There are a few small things I've got to do to make me feel completely comfortable for the long haul on this swap though. Clutch and brake lines are different and that may just be due to mine being an 08 model. The bend is different coming off the levers making it tough to get the headlight assembly on. The second is buying the housing that routes the wiring harness. The R harness routes up the front of the frame neck and the CR routes along the side. It doesnt sound like much but those 2 items alone cost me several hours in trimming and cutting to get the bike bask together. I'll feel alot better when I have a permanent fix for those items. Other than that it was pretty straight forward.

The black and blue looks really tough on a CR. Nice work, Scolly!

It looks great Scott. I threw mine together last night. Still have some work to do.

I am liking the R with the red trim. A real one of a kind!

I am hoping they come out with a white one with red trim next year.

A few. The throttle cable is a bit tight when turned full right. Gotta bleed my brakes I don't know if it is the line or if I somehow got air in there when I had the master cylinder taken off and upside down, but it is very spongy. Other than that it is awesome, I love it thanks again.

Can you list out the parts needed to go from a CR --> R. I would like to do this mod myself.
