I know there is a forum for tales, but I had to share this one here as it involves the 1125r and the owners of said bike will really appreciate this story.

I live in Italy, and as I had the day off I decided to take a ride into the mountains this morning. I got a relatively early start, and was well into the Dolomites by noon. It was such a gorgeous day that everyone had a similar idea, and everyone brought their machines into the mountains to escape the valley heat.

As I rode, I passed all of the bikes you see in magazines or at shows. Ducatis, Motoguzzis, BMWs, Aprilias, Triumphs, even a Benelli or two. Of course, the Japanese are also well represented.

As I was toodling down one particular stretch of road, just enjoying the day and not speeding (for once ; )), I was passed by a group of such motorcycles.

I watched them speed past, and just let them go because I'd seen an Italian Carabinieri coming towards us and knew that they'd likely be ticketed.

After the police car passed me, sure enough it did a u-turn and hit the lights. I pulled to the side, sure that he would fly past and pull over the bike speeding ahead of me. But he didn't... he pulled up behind me.

I was so annoyed that he did that... he was ticketing me, who hadn't been speeding? I had no lights out, and was obeying all traffic laws... what reason could he possibly have for pulling me over?

The Carabinieri got out of the car and walked up to my bike, looked it over, whistled, and said "You have a VERY beautiful bike!" then gave me a double thumbs up, and got back in his car and left.

Proof indeed, the 1125r is a stunning machine.

I love it. Wish I could have been on that ride with you. I love riding in Italy, but I'm stuck in Southern California. Although we have some great riding here, I couldn't get enough of Italy while I was there 2 yrs ago. Mike

Some people just appreciate great things more than others ;+}.

I've had Sheriffs and TN Troopers start conversations at stop lights and parking lots when I've been riding the 1125rt.

They really get confused since mine has the Givi bags and can't figure out what it is LOL.

Hi S1125r i'm from italy too! but I think you are not Italian..
what else to say great story! something similar happened to me with my xb: I was driving a little fast and after a corner there where Carabiniere, who stopped me. I was sure about the ticket, but they only asked me about the bike.. no speedy ticket!
Awesome. If you want to know some buell addicted people just take a look at the Devilstars or Tribu6800, two clubs from Milan. I'm from Rome!
Cheers

Great story.
I ride with a local HOG Chapter , and my 1125R is the only Buell usually. We often stop for lunch or just a break, and its absolutely priceless to see the looks on the chromed- out, polished up Harley owner's faces when my Black, Black and Black 1125r always draws a crowd around it...

It's great looking and different. Some would have rather it have been covered by plastic and look like all the rest. But mine also always gets positive comments and looks of approval at just about every gas stop.

Covered in all plastic does not mean they all look all alike.

All cars are covered in metal, they don't all look alike.

all people are covered in skin they don't all look alike

I like both, naked bikes and full fairing bikes when done well. A pleasing in design is possible in either variation.

I lived in Italy a while back. Had a VFR 750 and had a blast riding over there. I had to slow it down a lot when I came back to the US.

I had a couple guys pass up 50-60 other bikes, including a track prepped Ducati 999 to come check out my bike....I ended up talking to one of them for about an hour and a half, because he rode an Aprilia...those Aprilia guys sure love talking about Rotax LOL.

Then that means it looks like a sportbike.

Looks way cooler than a sportbike. At least the Jap ones.
