noticed that I had a leak on the right side, trailing down from the water pump. Looked like it was coming from the bottom bolt.

Took it to the dealer and after approx. 4 days they finally say that BMC wants them to tear the entire pump apart and replace all the guts because BMC has had 6 other bikes do the same thing within the last month or so. and that BMC was sending the parts.

Initally they were saying that it was the (outside of the engine) bearing seal, not the gasket- sorry don't have the service manual with me now to post proper part name. and that that seal was back ordered but some dealers outside the area had them in stock.

Does that sound right to anyone? Anyone else have this leak?

I'm taking my bike in today for that and although I've never seen a leak I've had to top the coolant off twice now, among other issues

I'll keep a watch on mine.
How many miles do you all have on your bikes?
What year are they?
What is the build month?

approx 6500 miles
2008 cannot remember if Oct/Nov/Dec

The trail was visible, white residue trail from the bottom bolt, very noticable, never actually noticed the coolant leaking just the dried trail.

I just wanted to know if build dates or miles had anything to do with the leakage.

Heres an update:

Its been 3 weeks now and they supposedly re-built the water pump, they had to rotate the engine out remove the casings, new seals etc.

They call today and tell me that when they started it up it started blowing coolant out the exhaust. They say that they didn't remove the headers and are very confused about why it would be doing this and they are waiting for Buell to call them back about how to proceed. They seem to think that they may have to strip the engine down even further to repair.

Then they start telling me about what trade in value they would probably be able to get me on a new 09. I would love a new 09 but the whole reason I bought the 08 used(great deal in August of 08) was so I wouldn't have a monthly payment.

Really getting tired of this whole situation, and having one thing after another be an issue with this bike.

Not really knowing the Rotax design but, based on automotive experience, I would bet you have a warped head or a head gasket blown so it is allowing coolant from the water jacket to seep into the combustion chamber and out the exhaust pipe.

Bummer Dude!!!!!!!!
