Those are usually vendor direct because of the odometer setup. Parts like that generally have a lead time from the vendor and take a little longer to ship.

The IC in the 1125s does not come with a pre-set odometer.
When you install a new IC or ECM, they shake hands and start a 30 minute countdown.
At the end of the 30 minutes, they "marry" and are useless to anyone else.
In that process, they swap odo, VIN and some other info.

Hi Zack,
I am having my I.C. replaced under warranty for the battery drain problem. I was told by the service department that I had to wait a few weeks because it had to be sent somewhere so that the new I.C. could be programmed with my current mileage before they could get and install it. I thought that strange because the ECM in cars does exactly what you describe and the odometer shakes then marries the ECM receiving all the info from that. I just figured the 1125 was different.
Am I getting my leg pulled or does the I.C. need to be "programmed" with mileage before being installed?
Thanks,
Paul

I've been "checking" my bike in and out of the dealership as they wait for the IC to arrive; track days, weekend rides, etc. I'm on two weeks now. I haven't heard anything about it needing to be sent out for programming however.

Mine has thrown 9 different error codes and according to the mechanic they are working with Buell Tech to trouble shoot each one. The mechanic stated he'd never seen an 11 throw so many codes.

It is what it is...

My dealership is telling me it is on back-order.I took it there for all the upgrades, new kickstand spring, oil dipstick, gas vent line and asked about the ic because of the battery drain. When they told me it was on back-order i asked if i could pick it up and bring it back when it came in and they said no because the bike was all apart. Is it that hard to change the ic with the bike all together?

Zac is quite correct about the IC talking to the bike once it's fitted. The IC may require to fairing to be moved a little but this doesn't take long at all.

front fairing probably removed. the ecm marries the ic after 30 minutes of power or key on. i rode my track bike without an ic for 9 months. i would announce to the dealer that i will be picking the bike up(insert date here) and bringing it back when the ic arrived. jmo.

To access the IC, you will need to remove the fairing, which requires removal of the mirrors & 2 additional bolts. Also, I found it much easier to access the IC's 3 bolts, by removing the headlight assembly, which is 6 bolts IIRC.

It's an easy deal really.
