Hey guys last night i was visiting a friend in southern ohio. I was going around a corner and my back end broke loose i recovered from that but i was in the other lane and a car was coming so i had to hit the car or lay it down. I laid it down and it smacked into a guard rail. Im fine thank god for leathers and a helmet but my bike is trashed. the front forks snapped where they attach to the frame the front fairing is ripped off and everything in it is trashed its leaking oil both wheels are bent both scoops are trashed and alot of small things. Do you guys think this is totaled or have any idea of what the cost of replacing all of that is.

Good luck !! and gald your OK.... sounds like someone was on your side for sure!!

Don't see how you can repair a bike if the frame is trash. Kind of a main component.

PS. Watch out for old ladies in Pewter chevy blazers too. They Bite.

I'm glad you are ok, you might want to re-think laying a bike down for any reason. Just my bucktwoeighty's worth.

I dropped it off at ad farrow today. Right now they said it needs all new plastics, a new frame, a new swingarm,a new front a rear wheel every thing in the fairing is broken and a new exhaust. That is going to be some crazy labor They said theyre leaning towards it being totaled.

You might hit up your insurance company to see if they'd sell you back the bike for salvage.

You'd be amazed at the deal you might get... or refer them to me!!!

The frame alone is $1300 for the part, then you got labor.

Glad you're ok!

I got hit from the rear by my buddy on his jap busa. Handle bar front fairing, left radiator support and fairing. The frame was bent where my leg got smashed into it. The rear swing arm was bruised (didn't order from Dark horse soon enough).
It's cool that Buell will stamp out a new frame for you if you damage yours. Many other manufacturers don't do that so if you bend the frame, it's scrapola.

I'm having a hard time picturing your situation.... exactly what was happening that required a "lay down" as opposed to a "hard turn" or an MSF-styled "dodge"?

Glad you're okay though... sounds scary.

i was coming around a corner on the inside lane there was sand coming from a drive i didnt see. as i was turning my back end broke loose to stop from sliding out i had to stop leaning in the corner. which made me take the corner wide. so far that i was in the other lane. as i proceeded a car was coming. my choices were turn sharper than i already was and possibly slide out and get run over by the blazer or go in the the blazers shoulder. i didnt plan on laying it down but i was pretty sure it we be hard not to since the shoulder was dirt and gravel. i would rather slide out than take a head on collision any day

i spoke with the insurance company they are paying the full amount of what i bought it for plus tax and accessories i asked about buying the bike they said it would cost 33% of what i paid i bought it for 9000 plus tax i thought that was a little high considering it was 13000 to fix. I was actually suprised my insurance didnt change one penny. they set it up so it will never raise from a accident they set a limit and when you reach it they will drop you.
