But, do the Buell fans really want to race against the Ducati 1098?

On a level playing field, racers on Buell 1125Rs have whooped up on a slew of 1098s.

Diablo1 - you are obviously so much smarter than the rest of us. Now that you have illuminated us with all of your wisdom, please remember that very few of us Buell owners can read or write so go easy on us.

Thanks for the compliment. Other youngsters find those velcro shoe fasteners work out easier than laces.}

I'm new to Buell sportbikes, I used to ride Japanese sportbikes.

I find it VERRRRY interesting how much buzz and internet hate Buell has attracted by winning a few races....hmmmm

Maybe I made the right choice !

Rock on Buell!!

Diablo, why do you have such a heartache with Buells? This forum involves those of us that have and love Buell motorcycles. It's a constructive learning environment. Also an environment to share experiences.

Buell people are cool people. If you have something that can benefit please continue, otherwise your whining is getting old. Be positive dude, that's what we're here for. Get a Buell, join the fam.

No Diablotroll, what I posted was that the Buell has a 10HP advantage, and a 25 pound weight disadvantage. It also has a flywheel inertai disadvantage on a dry track.

I have no idea who you are, but if you base your engine knowledge on that one website, it gives a good indication of your sophistication. The Buell 1125 configuration has been put in place to be competitive in Daytona SportBike, not dominant. That class is like NASCAR, it's all about the rider and team.

But if we want to talk specs and technicalities, since all the split times show that Danny was fastest in the corners, on a heavier bike, what do you America haters say to that? The idea that Buell can build a chassis that is world class bother ya? The Buell ZTL concept can stop a heavier biuke comprtitively with the best stuff in the world bother ya?

Anonymous, they really employ a guy like you at Buell. Are you an engineer, in marketing, a mechanic, }a factory worker....I also have no idea who you are. You have a problem with the Factory Pro data? Try to post it without attacking me.

It doesn't really matter, but I have owned a Norton Atlas, a 47 Indian Chief, a Triumph TR5MX, a Yamaha XT500, a Yamaha XZ550, a Yamaha XJ650LK Turbo. And yes, I have a faster bike in the garage.}

Sure it does.

If I was in an HD forum bagging on HD products but had never ridden or owned an HD product, it would matter quite a bit.

You own any other brands beside HD? You'll notice that I've owned a lot of brands including an American, Japanese and British. One thing I've found is that it's silly to be a brand loyalist. Not all bikes built by "your brand" are wonderful, and not all bikes built by "the other brands" are awful. Most companies are capable of build a few excellent models every now and again. You won't find a brand tattoo on me.}

Others might question why you would bother reading --- much less posting to --- a forum dedicated to a product you don't own and, from the looks of it, have no love for.

I am sensing a hint of queer in this. I have owned several Jap bikes, namely Suzukis, and also have a Kawasaki in the garage, and to be honest I wasn't sure what to make of Buell until I rode one. Then I realized, oh snap! This thing is pretty nifty. So I bought one and enjoy the heck out of it.

I cruise some of the other forums, never post and I'm not registered, I just like to see what other folks are having discussions about. I can say this however; I wouldn't post on any other forums because I have no reason to, save the Ninja 250 forums, and that would be for tech issues only.

So..Why are you here exactly Diablo1?

OK. I've sat back and watched this ensue for a while and its getting ridiculous. The bottom line is that DMG and the manufacturers sat down and came up with an agreed upon set of rules for the 2009 season. We all know, based on what they have done with NASCAR over the years, that if the they feel in anyway that the playing field is not level they will adjust the rules accordingly. Its very early in the season, so I wouldn't get your panties tight about anything just yet.

What we should be concentrating on is the fact that we are witnessing what could possibly be a resurgence of road racing in the US. Thats what really matters. Good racing. I don't care if they match 600s with a Fat Boy or Ultra Glide. If it makes for good racing thats all that matters.

On another note, Diablo, if you don't like the 1125R or any other non Jap Bike running in the class, then don't watch.

We are all here because we love what BMC and Erik have given us. It may not be for you, but don't knock us for our passion for the bikes that we have chosen to purchase and ride with genuine enthusiasm.

If you don't own a Buell or have never ridden an 1125R, you could never understand why we all have Kool-aide Man smiles on our faces.

This is a Forum thread discussing Kevin Schwantz' comments, at least it started out that way. Or did you only want to have a one-sided discussion where all the Buellers shout in unison - "Yeah man, he dissed us!"

And the real reason I'm here is because......

I'm a motorcyclist.

Dude. It's not that its one sided. I appreciate and welcome other view points. The issue is that when your view point has become incendiary and derogatory towards BMC and the bikes that we all love, and when you deride the members of this board that have poured countless hours into making it the great place that it is, it bothers us all.

The fact that you seem to want flame other people is the problem.

Nah, the reason Diablo is here is ONLY because he is a troll. Bringing absolutely nothing of substance or value and only negativity defines his reasons for being here. Using the term "Motorcyclist" is an insult to anyone that truly enjoys the sport of motorcycling. He has declined to answer what he rides which leads me to believe that he probably doesn't ride at all.

Actually Diablo1 is one of the nicer guys from the Aprilia board. Let me correct that, one of the nicer guys on the Aprilia board that does n't have a direct stake in the racing. The Pros on that board were actually defending Buell teams since they too are big twin bikes. The question is why is he here busting our chops. Its like coming into a Seminary and proclaiming Allah the savior. I am not knocking the message, just your choice of venue. Go back to the Aprilia board and you will get plenty of Amens. Of course I did not read one complain about the 1000cc Aprilia in the series. I guess if they win two races back to back you will be as vocal about the unfair rules?? Truth be told if they did, I would be cheering them on as I do Ducati, BMW and Triumph. You know route for the underdog. But not you, you want to bash the smallest company in the series. You want to bash the only home team. Instead of routing for the underdog you whine to us about fairness. The big four did not want the dynos. Why?? Answer me that. You look at everything DMG is trying to do to give the privateer a chance, I commend them. Look at Jordan racing. Trying for years and only recently competitive. They were excluded from all the choice parts by the factory teams because for years they would choose the winners. Honda races the 600s and Suzukis race the 1000s. Unfair? It has been unfair for years! So you have had your say, and its safe to say we don't agree.

The funny part is that everyone points to peak HP as the point of advantage for the Buell.

The IL4s were faster in the straights where HP is king.

I think those trying so hard to protect Buell make these conversations longer than desired by making it a us vs them argument. It is possible to like Buell bikes but be in disagreement with one thing here or there. Let differences of opinions be.

I would bet many people here are here to learn more about Buells before they buy one. A person is not evil just because they are not YET a customer, are they?

I highly doubt anyone here is protecting Buell in any kind of way. I'm sure at some point or another all of us have some kind of legitimate gripe with BMC about something with our beloved Buells. But the beauty of it is that we expressed our gripes here and we were heard and our problems got resolved. Either by help from members on BadWeb or by poster's like Anony, Court or Blake.

I brought my first buell never believing that they would ever come close to being competitive in AMA or any premier class. It didn't buy my buells thinking that they're sole intent was to beat anyone on a race track. i brought them because they catered to the every day rider and not the race track. I do believe that these wins and the many more to come will serve to enlighten the rest of the motorcycling community about what a small company with smart people, engineering prowess and a dedicated customers can do.

It does nothing more than speak to the masses that American motorcycles, and Buell in particular, are here to stay.
