As the tech evolves, Buell should consider building an electric 1125E in the same frame, with a multi fuel on board backup generator.
(They should also add carbon fiber wheels and a carbon fiber swingarm: ) Battery and generator could be in frame, with engine in wheel. They could also go the conventional route and keep the belt drive. Buell is a pioneer and electric is coming!

These guys know how a bike should handle and deliver power. Since they're into outsourcing now, what's the harm? It'd get Buell some serious press. They wouldn't even have to worry about fuel injection, which would clearly be a big relief...!

wont happen...... atleast anytime soon your mixing "fuel alternatives" and "going green" with racing. lol they dont go together very well. it would weigh alot and wouldnt be cheap at all. there has been a few ppl that have made electric drag cars but there not in an abundance, and its for a reason.. but if buell did make one very cool

The new electric power plant could be called the "Electricon", clearly a spinoff of the "Helicon" name. Or better yet the "Firevolt"

Won't happen.

Shell, this week, discontinued their solar and wind initiatives.

Yeah, Buell should hurry up and build a big, heavy, $30k motorcycle.

That's exactly what has got them where they are.

I hope this thread is an early April fool's day joke.

Buell (and BMW and Ducati and Harley-Davidson) are far too small to support the development.

Honda, who started manufacturing motorcycles in 1963, at one time had a plant in the United States (where they made the Gold Wing) and who now opened plants in India and most recently Viet Nam had sales (it was a decline from the last three years of 9,320,000 motorcycles, has the resources (yeah, they make more bikes in a day than Harley-Davidson does in a year) and has already announced their Electric Motorcycle . . . you guys need to do your homework on the market . . AND fuel injection.

: )

I think electric is going to be a big part of our future. 10 second charges on batteries could make some difference.

I used to work at a plant that had a few VERY large electric motors and it was a thrill when they would lite them up from a full stop.

Interesting video:

Anybody notice that the all electric Honda in the link above is not actually an all electric Honda? There's an IC engine and an exhaust pipe.

All it takes is one significant step in battery tech, and presto, all the IC engines will go away, assuming the Oil Companies don't struggle too much as they off into the Good Night.

You can't beat the performance (torque to weight, smoothness, etc.) of an electric motor.

Can't wait!!!

I suspect that the IC engine will be around a good long time. Probably until we run out of oil. In the mean time, I wholeheartedly support the investment in battery research and alternative energy production. If we aren't ready when the oil runs out, we'll be screwed.

The low price of oil is killing the oil industry. It is also killing the alternative energy industry. In the long term, it will be bad for everyone. A lot of the record profits were put to use looking for more oil. Those projects are on hold. When we need the oil again, it won't be there.

Imagine the tech's face when you come in for a fluid change on the nuclear model's coolant.

or

Fontana, 2020. The race was red flagged when a steam cloud was seen trailing from the buell. It has been a decade since the introduction of this model which has had a flawless safety record. Alert sirens were sounded and everyone rounded up for geiger check before release. Tonight, all things are in place as they were when the alert began. It is unknown how long the cleanup will take or if they'll seal off the area permanently. A dull glowing race line can be seen encircling the track.

Too funny . . off topic . .. but all I could think of was this thread . . . I got TWO (count'em" calls from recruiters (one in Houston and one in LA) yesterday looking for top level execs for upcoming nuclear projects.

Those 63 permits that the NRC approved, that we an albatross for the folks who held them for so many years, are now hot items being bid on.

I love it!

No sweat. By 2020 they'll have lead lined duct tape...
