The stock front brake pads have got to go. I'm having some serious issues with the front brakes and high performance riding. They are heating up and leaving deposits and seem to be to soft to self clean the rotor. Whats out there, whats working, and were to get it please. | ||

The Lyndal pads fad pretty bad under high performance riding also. I'm currently running the EBC HH pads which perform pretty well, but seem to be a little too hard and are prone to rotor pickup. My next pads will be the Buell race pads. Expensive, but from what I hear worth it. | ||

The Lyndall's are great for 99% of the "sport" riding done by most here. The EBC's are better for track, but on the street have almost too great an initial bite, are harder to modulate, and take a while to warm up. | ||

I do a lot of track days and my rotors look real bad. I think the Lydall's are out, They look carbon based, I'm thinking metal sinterd pads, possibly EBC, SBS, or Farrado, but haven't been able to find any yet. | ||

The EBC HH are great and that's what I've gone now that I'm doing a lot of track days. When riding on the street with them, just remember to USE them, don't ride around using 10% brake pressure. They glaze up. Downside: new pads every two front tires. | ||

Jeremy - That has not been my experience at all, at least on the 1125R. Are you sure your talking about the HH pads? Very different than the previous generation of EBC pads. I have no experience with them on the XB's. On the 1125R, they out perform the stock pads in every way and they have a much more progressive feel. My only complaint is the tendency for rotor pickup during break-in and when braking under extreme conditions. | ||

180 I think They last about 1 1/2 to 2 times longer than other pads for track use though so the price is deceiving. | ||

The 2009 1125 Pad is supposed to be a different compound and was done to address some of the problems a few folks (a-hem) have had with t stock pads and fade under 'hard' use. Not sure how they will work as my local dealer has yet to stock a set so I may have to order them special to check them out. Right now, I'm using the Buell Race pads which are really good on track but have a few minor issues as a street pad. Like, the need to 'drag' the brakes a little at times to put some heat in them so they work when you put two fingers on the lever. Not a bad trade off really, just something you have to remember to do since longer jaunts without touching the brakes (like on highways) leave them kind of 'not in the mood' for serious braking on demand. Have yet to try the EBC or Lyndall binders so I have no comment on either of them. (Message edited by BluBlak on March 16, 2009) | ||

Rotor pick-up happens when the pads are too hard. Also sometimes referred to as rotor scratching. Basically the pads start pealing the metal off the rotor. Leads to reduced rotor life and in some cases vibrations that are very similar to what happens when your get deposit build up on the rotor. | ||

Just saw some EBC pads on ebay for $70. I have used the EBC HH race pads before on other bikes and they performed very nicely with very little fade. I will be putting them on the 1125 when I need a set on it. | ||

$70 on eBay for the EBC pads is the same price as in most stores. Shop around, you should be able to find them for ~$65 from an EBC rep. | ||

Yeah I sold my EBC's to Justin for $51.99 on my eBay auction. I have a set of Lyndall's for $69.99 listed. I am going to be selling all the aftermarket stuff I bought for my 1125R. So keep an eye out for D&D, Corbin seat, throttlemeister bar ends, axle sliders, LSL billet drop pegs. These harsh economic times have hit me. My last day at work will be 3/27. I have Severance pay till 9/11 and can start collecting unemployment after 3/27. Was currently going through some tough financial times personally but this latest one has me giving the Buell and the Harley back to the bank in a few months. Unless something changes my wife and I are looking to moving back to Pennsylvania from California. All my family lives in western PA so I will have some support. Gonna liquidate what I do not want to take back with me get rid of some stones around my neck. I will not be bikeless as I decided to try and keep my 2007 KTM 950R Super Enduro as if things continue to go south I can at least sell it for what I owe unlike the hog and the Buell. | ||
