When do we call BS on the 146HP rating at the crank?

IMO? When I can run the crank on the same dyno I can run the rear wheel on. Until then, I'm trying not to pay attention to #'s coming from multiple different sources outside of the context they're presented in.

That's just me though & YMMV.

My guess is that BMC had to take some off the top end, to fix the bottom end. I am referring to the fueling.

don't have a problem knowing how different dyno's read..don't care about the # in a room

So how do you quantify the results of your work?

I'd agree with that thought if this was a carb and we were dealing with jetting & needles that have to work across the entire range. It isn't though. I think it's reasonable to expect significant gains from tuning the bike, as Teach has demonstrated with Xb9's work, but again, I won't know how that will effect my bike until I dyno it against a baseline under the same conditions.

Maybe they did take something off the top, but without being able to measure Crank vs. Rearwheel on the same bike/same dyno/same operator/different ECMs, I don't think I'll ever know 100% one way or the other.

I don't have the desire, time or $$$ to go through that kind of work to prove/disprove, so I talked myself out of looking at everyone else's dyno #'s a long time ago, and only pay attention to the curves of the lines. I've been much happier ever since.

P.S. ~9 horsies & ~7 lbs. without changing anything else than the pipe still sounds pretty good. Now just need to see the before & after charts so can compare the curves.

As soon as H/D fixes their printer, I'll have that up.

FWIW, they look just about identical. No peaks, no dips, no holes.

A piece of nice work, bolted onto another piece of nice work!

Fresno, as an unbiased observer, it seems that you are much more focused on the fact that the 08's w/the third flash and the stock 09's are producing lower HP/TQ #'s than the factory advertised #'s, than you are the fact that both times the Drummer has been installed on an 1125 that it makes MORE HP&TQ.

just an observation...

No. I am questioning what exactly the 3rd flash did to the power and if the new reality of the bike is that it has 120 RWHP stock, does the bike produce 146 crank HP anymore?

As far as the Drummer, I never said it wouldn't produce more power. The early dyno methods and subsequent power producing claims were questionable.

Carbon's figures are seem good and that is a nice bump in power. I too would like to see the graphs.

That's not really crazy. A 17-18% power loss to the back wheel isn't really out of line, is it?

Fresno, this is my point exactly!
This is afterall a "dyno drummer" thread and not a "third flash" thread.

Seems to me there's no arguing the fact that the drummer increases the HP/TQ #'s of the bikes it's been installed on.

O.K. Here's some pictures of some screenshots, of some pictures of some screenshots. This will have to do till I get the printout from Harley. When they fix their printer. Or I take one over there and print the darned thing out myself.

Same shape, no holes, no dips. The AF is a little lean, but like I said, it only has about 30-40 miles on it. AFV's still at 105. Learn, Bitch, Learn!

Looks good to me. Its all relative anyway.

Now this whole "learn" thing I'm a bit skeptical about. I mean if the computer needs 100+ miles to "learn" it must be a retard. An adaptive system is meant to deal with changes while riding; altitude, humidity, temperature. blah, blah, blah. In dreaded Japanese bike land if you make a change; pipe, filter, etc, etc. all you need to do is disconnect the battery and then reconnect it so the computer will reset and "learn" the change.

Anywho... the Drummer results look great.

Happy now Carbon??? ; )

Very nice! Air/Fuel curves look really close at the top of the revs, just a bit leaner in the middle.

Its hard to tell but eh AFR looks to be close to 14:1 at the top end. that's pretty lean at WOT. With some more learning miles it should help some possible or could make it worse.

Hopefully the AFV's go up in value to help richen up open loop fueling. Otherwise a custom map is in order if more power is wanted. Oh and its to do with Dave's help.

I want to see that nice pipe in some decent lighting and resolution. I had the Drummer SS on my XB and I imagine this thing rocks as well.

Well, it turns out that I'm a idiot. At least as far as video editing. I will get this polished and completed when I get back from vacation, and it will include the drive by stuff as well as the information on the third dyno run, #'s and pics and vids. Tomorrow at work I'll take some good closeups of the installation and get em up.

Also, as soon as HD gets their printer up and running I'll post a scanned high quality pic of the dyno chart.

What we have here is Idle stock, Idle with the Drummer installed, then the Dyno run with the Drummer installed. Thanks for your patience. In advance.
