also if you can. It will make things a LOT easier to get it adjusted the way you need it, been there done that.........

+1 on what Neil (Ccryder) said about ordering the arm that splits in the middle. It makes it much easier to position the GPS.

Cheap skate alert.....

My Nuvi came with one of those windscreen suction mount units. I've just stuck it on the inside of the screen and its in the perfect place away from the elements.Has anyone tried this. Do they stay sucked on to the surface ok? I could tie off the nuvi just in case it fell off during motion.

Another option I have thought about trying is to fit a ball right inside at the front of the nose. There's a small black plastic cross member between the lights that looks like it could be drilled to accept the ball bracket. I could then use an arm/nuvi bracket that I already have to mount the unit.

Im only thinking about this coz my missus would go bang if I spent any more on my bike at the moment besides fuel to keep it going. I really pushed the boat out buying it in the first place.

Everything came in and I will get it mounted in the morning. I'm a little nervous about unscrewing my controls to put in on the clutch assy. any advice? Thanks guys

Take the screws out, then pull the halves apart.
The controls have a bump/pin on the inside that fits in a hole in the bars.

That arrangement locates the controls and keeps them from rotating.
Don't cut the nub off unless you want wandering controls.

If you feel the need to relocate the controls, drill a new hole.
The fluid reservoirs can be moved, they are not indexed.

Just add some folded up towels to protect the airbox cover and scoops. The installation of the RAM ball on the lever clamp is no real issue. The only parts you won't use in the install are the 2 original bolts. The clamp half will be used and held in place by the RAM Ball post and it's longer screws.

Yes!! Its done and it works great. Thanks alot guys for all the advice. The plug was a pain in the but to get to, but I got everything done in about 30 minutes. I'm going to take it out for a spin in just a bit. Thanks again

From my normal seating position I can see over the GPS to see all of the IC. From that position the Passport does not block any of the IC idiot lights. I tried mounting the flat racket a couple of different ways and this is the only one that allow everything to clear. The position of the GPS offers the least glare and interference with the tankbag. I'll probably substitute the 0.187" plastic stand off washers with some 0.125" rubber sheet. I feel that would be a cleaner and more stable mounting.

So I got me one of those cluth resovoir covers from Ram. Think it was ram-b-346. Fitted it tonight. Looking under it I can see that the middle of the ram mount is making contact with the top of the resovoir but not the ends. Should I fit a small washer at each end between the two items or is it all ok as is?

Ccryder How well does that passport work being surrounded by the black plastic? Does it pick up cops behind with you in the way? also do you have the headphone hooked up or do you just use the display to see when it goes off? Thanks

My mount came with some 1/8" plastic washers. I have those installed right now. I am planning on replacing them with a thin rubber sheet. The cover of the reservoir is not flat and has raised lettering.

The Passport works great in that position. The black plastic does not reduce the signal from the rear or sides. It probably reduces the Laser from the rear/ sides but 99% of the Laser is from the front. Besides, if you don't have "Bear-Bait" in front of you for any radar, and especially Laser, you are caught.

During my 70 mile (each way) commute each day I usually see 2-4 Sheriffs and 1-3 State Troopers. I see no difference in detection b/t the 1125rt, St1300 or, F-150 mounting.

I am running a headphone set up so I can hear the detector. On the Passport you need to use an isolated cable since they have the audio signal floating above ground. (I'm a mechanical engr so I'm taking this info from my EE friends. I got my cable from Gary at http://www.electric-avenues.com/amplirider.html ) Drop Gary a line and he can supply you an isolation cable for a real reasonable price.

Trying to rely on the visual warning will get you a ticket since it is too far out of your line of sight.
