Hi All, this may have been covered, not sure, but can someone shed a little light on the subject for me? Mi put my baby in the garage Saturday nite around 8pm, didn't touch her until this morning and up came the "theft error" on the ic. I have never monkeyed with the anti-theft settings. My dealer is closed Monday'sn so no help there. I called BMC and they said sorry, wait till Tuesday and speak with your dealer. I called another dealer here in TX and they don't know what it means, or what the possible cause is.

Is your battery charged?

I had a 'theft error' once when I forgot to turn off the ignition overnight. Charged the battery & the bike was happy again.

Your IC might be killing your battery. Do you have an early build 2008?

I put her away happy on Saturday nite. No battery indicator light on in the IC. Just went back to the garage and hooked her up to the trickle charger. The charger's meter is reading zero. How could the battery be smoked from one day of not riding? I don't run any accessories that would draw on the battery, so I'm surprised the battery is showing zero juice.

Yes, the build date is December '07. I think that qualifies : )

If you charge the bike, it will start. And you should qualify for the 09 instrument cluster. My bike is in the shop right now, for that exact same problem, and I have the same build date. Just keep in mind it may take a couple weeks for your dealership to receive the new cluster.

I have Dec. '07 buld date as well. My bike is down again for a dead battery (twice in a few months.) My battery was smoked last time (couldn't even jump start the bike) and I believe this battery is gone too.

Put it on the charger and listen really carefully to the IC, see if you hear anything. I don't know what the sound is but i venture to say, it's not normal.

Goin back to the garage in a few to check the status. I'll let you all know. And thanks for the advice.
