When you are bbqing you see the heat waves coming off of the smoker or grill. This is a disturbance of air waves. As everyone knows, black absorbs heat and gives off these heat waves thus disturbing the smooth flow of air over the bodywork, thus creating more air friction and causing a need for more horsepower to go faster. White doesn't absorbe heat like the black ones and doesn't give off the waves that creates the air friction so the white ones are faster. So there you have it case closed.

I see you are an analytic man. And appealing to your analytical mind, I would like to direct your attention to the fact that a heated surface also makes the air in the immediate vicinity of the surface warmer. Warm air is denser and would be conducive to creating laminar flow which decreases aerodynamic drag thus resulting in higher speed for same horsepower.

Sorry, cold air is denser because the air molecules are closer. Take that ha-ha

As i've said before when the black absorbs light(aka heat) it adds weight, thus slowing it down and making it run hotter. And when the bike attracts heat, it creates less power due to the less dense air going into the intake, and when the engine has to work harder to move a big slow black turn, it is waste horsepower.

Yes i have a confession, my bike WAS black at one point, however due to and unfortunate circumstance, and being fed up with being slow, i switched to white plastics, and since then have been suprised by how much faster it is.

Also when the bike was black and i was going through traffic, the cars wouldnt see me and i'd have to go around and/or dodge them. But when i went to WHITE 99% of all the cars see me now and move out of my way, thus allowing me to use my new found power, without having to minutely slow down to move around them. Hell i've had an entire line of about 20 cars that were infront of me move into the slow lane so i could pass them, u can call me moses lol, i can part the seas lol. once again proving why the WHITE ones ARE the fastest and have more opportunities to use said power.

and to all my SLOW black, and slow other colored brethren i bid u a song of sorrow for being the slowest of the 1125's

Jake

Black is faster pure and simple. Black absorbs heat away from the intake and allows for the cooler denser air to enter the intake producing more power and maintain a cooler running engine. Weight difference is negligible.

what a load of Bull - the white ones are far faster because everyone thinks you are a lawman and gets out of the way double time - at least here in the UK they do.

Yea? Well you might be talking about static cold air then. However warm air compresses better so it is conducive to laminar flow. Yep.. that's right! That is what I meant to say. Just think about it. Planes don't take off from Las Vegas if temps are higher than 120F. And that's because they would be so fast that they would break the sound barrier over populated areas.

I am also thoroughly convinced that the coriolis effect is to blame for higher wear on the left side of the front tire.

They didn't paint the fastest plane ever built, The Blackbird, black for nothing.

Will the planes break the sound barrier more easily in high heat because the planes are faster? Or because the speed of sound is slower?

The black ones are faster because as heat radiates off of them, they create their own coriolis effect when they are in motion. This allows the spinning micro vacuums along the top and each side of the bike to supercharge the bikes motion through the air. As I stated in another thread, the black ones are also faster because black absorbs all light, creating a light wave vacuum around the bike. This allows a light speed like acceleration.

The white ones must battle through a bombardment of light wave resistance and cold bore punch their way through the air.

Also, the light waves absorbed by the black ones, along with the heat they give off, causes the bikes to micro-resonate through air molecules. These microscopic molecular vibrations cause the air around the bike to become more fluid and easily parted.

Yeah, the SR-71 was black, but what about really fast vessels, like the Starship Enterprise (white) and the Millenium Falcon (also white, though dirty white), the only ship to do the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs???

Gotta compare apples to tangerines here...

Always thought that the reference to a parsec as a unit of time was incorrect when used in that quote from Star Wars, must do a net search

Anyway the Borg cubes=very fast & travel in transwarp conduits are those vessels are all colours.

Delta flyer was white and that achieved warp ten but look what happened to Tom Peres

But the Blackbird is real, while the Enterprise & Falcon aren't.

Talked w/ a Blackbird pilot one time. He told me his job was great. He took off after the sun had set, and by the time he landed, the sun had come up again. The 'funny' part of it though was that he was 'catching up' to the sun. Almost smacks of time travel I tell ya.

All of this totally neat! trekky info is only relevant if we are racing in outer space!

Though, if one color was fast enough to fly into outer space, it would be the black one to get there!

White is a cheaper color. As noted in apollo 13, those rockets are made by the lowest bidder.

Well if I may take Socoken's statement way way way out of context...you are so right. The white ones so look cheap. As opposed to the elitist black ones.

Don't bring NC17001 or the Millennium Falcon into this. They are equipped with a Turbo Encabulator.

So that does not count!

They showed us this video when I was in school except they were talking about their new truck "transmission".

Its kinda scary how many future mechanics thought this was a real product coming onto the market.

Whats crazy about that video is that im in Oilfield Production and one of my platforms has just about the same setup with those breakers still today. I might have to learn those technical terms so when the big bosses come out I can razzle dazzle them!! haha

If you do it my way it doesn't matter what color your 1125r is.
I took my drill and put thousands of little tiny divits with a half inch countersink bit. Dont go all the way through the plastic.
I followed the same design and a standard golfball. This breaks up the air and makes it less dense and causes less drag.

Mrrich - you don't have to do that with the Blacks.
The heat rising does the same thing - creates a boundary layer.

Air-bearings...

The White ones are better looking but...
The Black ones ARE faster.

What color are the factory race bikes? Latus is black, Shaun Higbee's bike is black. Don't you think they know a lot more than us about what's fast?

It's all the Sponsor Decals that really make a racebike move....
