I currently own a CityX.This morning I test rode a new CR with the optional higher bars fitted. First impressions were good. The power is amazing and the smoothness of the engine is impressive.

I like the CR alot but would like to know if anyone has atempted to fit set of hand guards like the ones fitted to the cityX. I have never had a bike before with hand guards and having used the bike over winter I reckon they are a worthy addition the CR if I go ahead and purchase one.

I would also like to know how many miles you guys/gals are getting out of you bike before filling it up again.

Any info/pointers on a transition from the CityX to a CR would be appreciated.

I looks like the switchgear is the same, so it might very well be possible to swap over the components.

That'd look pretty darn cool!

I find em so handy. The UK winter blast is crappy and I reckon they are better than heated grips...

I'd also like to know if the paint on the CR exhaust is any better than that on my CityX. Its gone a nice shade of rust now after 3500 miles...

Part of my preventive maintenance is to spray a coat of 1500 dF Bar-B-Q paint on the muffler every month or two.

I've got no oxidation on my exhaust, and it's seen plenty of wet weather. I've heard of the rusting exhaust, but so far have no experience with it. Bike is only 10 months old, and has about 8200 miles on the odometer so far.

Sounds positive re the exhaust... How many miles are you guys getting out of a tank of fuel before refueling?

115-120 W/O pushing it to the limit.

More like 130 on the highway. All most all of my stuff is in town.

im getting 140 miles or so till my gas light come on.
hand guards would look cool.
i think the ones from the duc hyper moto with the blinker mirror combo could be the cats meow for the upright bar kit. the lines of them would fight the roundess of the CR better than the ones on my ully

140 is very acceptable. pleased with that....

How are you guys finding the spray off the rear wheel when wet?

My CityX is terrible. I get loads of debris and spray up my back and in to the gap between jacket and helmet...

Have not had any rear wheel spray reach me as the rider, so the funky license plate holder is doing that task fairly well.

Actually, I just chopped it off in the last few weeks, so I'll have to see what the results are next time I get out in some wet weather.

Got another question. What's the seat comfort like for long trips?

I do not have a CR. I have an R, but the seats are the same. The seat is bearable, but I changed to the firebolt custom seat from Buell. It is much more comfortable with that seat and it is easy to change. It just slips right on (even easier with the pillion cover removed) where the old seat was and only costs about $150. Some other R owners have gone with corbin seats, but IMHO, they are too expensive. I am also getting around 140 miles till the low fuel light comes on.

I have the Buell custom seat on my list of things to maybe buy, but haven't really found a need to absolutely have it so far. I've done at most 400 miles in one day, but found no real issues with seat comfort out of the stocker. I still may buy the custom seat just to see the improvement though...

By the way, I also have an R. Only commented here about things that are the same between R and CR, but realize after Kttemplar's post that I never made that clear.

Sorry to disappoint you Plumpton, but the British weather is no kinder to an R exhaust than it is to an XB, mine is a nice shade of rust - so much so that my dealer's going to swap it for a camcoated one.
Not sure how the City's hand guards mount, if the switchgear is standard Buell then they should fit OK, I will have to have a look at a City when I'm next at a dealers.

I had a Lightning, and the spray from wet roads is still there on my CR, but half or less that the XB.
