Having ridden Arpilias, my prediction is that you'll love it.

I'll tell ya a secret . . . there really aren't any "bad" motorcycles made since Sears quit making the Allstate.

Enjoy, have fun and tell the folks on the Aprilia Forum and at the Aprilia events how much fun Badweb was.

Check out apriliaforum.com... it's a great site with excellent members like the people here on BadWeB. I'm Jennings Junkie over there- and my avatar is me at Jennings GP on my XB12R. Lots of Buell fans there, too( a lot of Brit members).

Thank you, Spike, for that succinct summary. That's exactly how I read it, too, and reason enough for me to ignore the troll going forward.

Just for clarification, I don't think of Gunter as a troll. I just think he has way overstated his case in this instance.

No fair! Are you even healed enough to ride that thing yet?! You'll let me know next time you're in Raleigh so I can test ride it, right?

OT: Spike, I'm doing pretty good. I've been pretty stoked and working out a lot (lower body) trying to get strong and healed. The Dr's are pleased and have told me "just let pain be your guide". I'm not ready to race the HP2 off-road or anything like that, but I did spend Saturday putt'N around the gamelands two-up on the TW. I can ride on the road but I'd better be careful.

I might be able to race the R6 in Daytona, (crossing fingers).

I've been looking at the Tuono for about a year so I'm eager to get some miles on it.

Can you ride it? Absolutely.

I just think he has way overstated his case in this instance.

I don't think so, but I may be biased, because, as stated before, I'm the one who has to pay for the manufacturer's faults.
Some people want this place apparently to be Buell's forum, instead of a Buell rider's forum.

Bingo, thats it. I'm not articulate, But when the focus moves from a customers problem to the manufactures highlights I dont understand the glossing over.

I promise its not treason to help each other. We all like Buell Bikes or we would not be here.

The forum would be best when consumer centric vs manufacture.

My tune might change if/when I'm rebuilding my XB's blown motor, but for now it looks like bias. Implying that XBs will come apart at ~25k due to a flawed crank is definitely overstating your case. I know of two locally owned XB engines that failed. Both had over 50k on them, and neither failed due to a crank problem. One of them is even back up and running on the original crank. Even my personal XB has over 35k on it, and I have not been particularly kind to this motor.

Having said that, Buell has all sorts of flaws that need to be addressed and we should be able to discuss them openly (but honestly) here on Badweb. DDFI has been on the market for a full decade now and apparently it's still not fully sorted. None of us would put up with quirky fuel injection in our cars, so I don't know why we're expected to put up with it in our bikes.

If the fuel injection in your car was designed to have the engine run at near the edge of it's performance limits, they would be just as quirky.

I only use this example because I know it by heart, but the 1125 puts out 130hp per liter. The GM turbo Ecotec puts out out the same 130hp per liter, which is GMs highest specific output engine EVER, and it needs direct-injection and turbo charger to do it.

"Honestly" makes a good catchword here. As long as Mr. Cheerleader says "none", I will say "all".

Buell engines die more often and earlier than average motorbike engines and they keep on dieing until they get fixed by some third party, otherwise these wouldn't exist. They don't die due to abuse, but due to built-in errors. This is a long-lasting part of the truth the same way as that some engines run flawlessly 100k mls. and more, and "honestly" would be not to sing seducing lullabies about "how they care", but to face the ugly half of the reality too instead of simply denying it. BMC has their own website, where they may exclusively publish their version of Pravda, but until now I had the impression, that BwB is an independent and open forum, leaving room for all, not only the high priests of Buell propaganda.

If you want to have a discussion about failing engines, the 1125R forum is probably not the right place. Any 1125 motor that has had problems have promptly been replaced by BMC at no cost to the owner.

The tuber forum, maybe..

Pravda or not.. it is really, really old news. Most of us here prefer to look to the future.

If your goal is to out-exaggerate (or at least equally exaggerate) the other guy you should move into partisan politics, because that technique will do little to improve our discussion of motorcycles.

For those who feel that Buell does not stand behind their bikes as well as other companies:
A bike from another (nameless) motorcycle manufacturer at under 600 miles had the rear brake FALL OFF!!! Out of the first 6 months of ownership, it spent 3 months in the shop because it would not start. I replaced carb and timing parts out of my own pocket just to be able to ride it. Finally at 1400 miles, the crankshaft broke! Total warranty help from company=0.
Don't tell me how bad Buell is.

It's not about how another bike company being worse.
Buell can easily fix a problem AT A PROFIT.
And, yes my expectations are high. That's why I purchased a Buell. Niche bikes deserve niche attention.

"Buell engines die more often and earlier than average motorbike engines and they keep on dieing until they get fixed by some third party, otherwise these wouldn't exist"

Id, you need to back up such claims with real data. My research does not reveal any intrinsic unreliability with the XB series (nothing that stands out in used bike guides, at least), and I have a 24 month warranty on my 1125R.

And, what are your qualifications? You state that there are design flaws with Buell engines. Prove it.

This is Buell forum. Many of us are happy with the product. You need to exercise tact when you tell us that our motos are crap, or go away.

It's not even a buell motor! It's a Rotax and Germans don't make mistakes (post WW2).

More importantly, TARGETED INJECTORS PLEASE!

Rotax is Austrian- not German, Not Italian.

Notable difference.

I've always heard the others require much more attention. No time for that! My r is were it's at. BMC has been great for me. I'm loyal and happy. Not interested in the others.
