I've been commuting on it for several days now, and by the weekend it'll be in for its 1,000 km service (!). The R has taken quite a bit of adjustment on my part, and I won't comment in any detail until I have done more than a week's riding in what has been cool and rainy weather.

Next week is tipped to reach close to 40C (110F for you Yanks) which will be telling for the heat issues I've read about on Badweb.

My three comments so far (1) what do you mean there's no petrol gauge!?!? (2) my commute is mainly 105kph freeway interspersed with a few roundabouts; it's not getting anything approaching the mpg that Buell's website promises; I'm not flogging it because I'm keeping it under 6,000 rpm before its first service; and (3) the fairing and pods are fabulous for protecting me against the wind, but that windscreen is a joke. While some on the Board are wishing for different colours, I would want a screen that is tall enough that I don't have to be face down on the airbox to benefit from!!!!!

I only have time to logon once a week, so flame away!

so...was it #125,000 ???????

enjoy it either way!!!!!!

1) yes it has an idiot light for reserve
2) mileage will improve as it breaks in
3) agreed, but taller screen would look funny IMHO

Look under the passenger seat cover and see if it signed by Erik Buell......you might have a very special motorcycle...

1) it's a sportbike
2) a maufacturer MPG claim is never accurate under real world riding conditions. Funny you would be even be considering those BMC figures when real world gas mileage has been cover ad nauseum here.
3) it's a sportbike (and it's probably the best wind protection you will find on such--the windscreen is to smooth the airflow, not block it)

PS-_Save a few hundred bucks on the first service and change the oil yourself.

Ride on and be safe, down there! And don't baby that breakin! Think, sealing those rings! Ride it often and load em good!

Wishing YOU the best on that R........and dodge them wombats/roos and whatever other critters w/that R's handling! ; )

I'm finding that my mileage is right in line with factory. I have a CR and Buell claims 36/47. I've been getting around 40-42 with mixed riding, though not much real interstate. I ride aggressive, but not over the top. It's about what I expected.

According to the computer, I'm getting about 30mpg, mostly sub 50 mph commute. Steady hwy I'm getting about 38-40. I do tend to have a heavy hand, though...

A white 1125R has just arrived at the Brisbane dealer, it's already sold, but I noted it has an "Oct '08" build date on it, so maybe #125,000 is still on a ship somewhere?

"......you might have a very special motorcycle...". Nope, mine's a run-of-the-mill version built in October that arrived Oz in November and was delivered to me Melbourne in December.

Just as well, I'd never ride the damned thing at all if it were the 125,000 model. As it is I have it parked in the garage with just under 1,000 km on the clock, and instead am riding my 1983 Honda with 80,000 km on it, to work; at 1,000 km per week I'd have ridden all the resale value out of the Buell within 12 months.

Perhaps it'll go back on the road if/when I transfer my work (Bunnings, the Australian version of Home Depot) closer to home. Or I'll sell it, because now that I have a superbike I'm not sure what I was thinking!

Hey Red, did you buy your bike in Brunswick by any chance? I just picked up my CR from there on friday, had been lurking here and read your post about dropping it off for a service... On my way to collect my bike I saw a white 25R go past and asked the guys at the store about it, and was told it had just come in for its first service..... sounds a lot like you i figure. My bike has taken quite a bit of getting used to as well (riding a KTM 950 sm sitting near bolt upright for a while means I need to restore the strength in my legs and core muscles to keep weight off the bars), but apart from that, I'm loving it!

G'day, littletree, if it was last Friday then indeed it was me; because Harley City is indeed in Brunswick and mine's the only white R they've received. See how we go with this Yank bike, eh?
