Was cruising my dealer's website and came across this...

Notice anything funny about the muffler? mine is all black, but the collector on this one is bare. Anyone else have one like this?

I think somebody in the last couple of days posted some pics of the results when they polished their pipes (!) and the collector I think. Looked a lot like that.

My '09, and every photo of an '09 on the Buell website don't look like that.

Collector is bare in the CRs getting print recently (I'm thinking of the Motorcyclist magazine article by Roland Brown). Hmmm... I thought they were all bare, too... thought Buell figured that the temp got too hot there for any kind of coating to stay on long-term.

The 09s sitting on my showroom floor look like that. I just figured Buell had changed where they stopped painting.

It was a running MY'09 change. I questioned it when I picked up mine as it was the first non-cali I had seen with the SS collector. My dealer contacted the factory and that is what we were told. Probably holds up better when it starts glowing red (read lean).

To distinguish it from a muffler that has the catalyst, there is a small N or a C stamped on the front of the collector.

And the California models for 08 look like that. Well, mine is not so polished anymore after one year and 14K miles. I guess us folks in CA are avant guard!
