Awesome day today at Infineon Raceway!

Weather was perfect...mid 70's and clear.

Track was clean and fast.

Pics will be available later in the week.

Most everyone had fun.....there was one transport to the Hospital...hopefully just for evaluation and not major.

I found that after a 20+ years break from being on the track that I still remember how to go around Infineon (Sears Point).

They had us use the AMA configuration...so it was a bit different than what I remember.

Turn 1 is a bit tricky, but helps keep speed down going up to Turn 2.

Turn 6 (the Carousel) is SMOOTH...wasn't like that when I used to race.....it was nice.

Turn 9 chicane is also meant to keep overall speeds down but a fun turn set on a Buell.

Turn 11 is "short" compared to yesteryear...again to keep speeds down a bit.

I ran in 6 sessions and put on just under 100 track miles....nice

I felt that I will never match the capability of my 1125....if I was 20-30 years younger....maybe.

I did feel that I was at least going the kind of speeds that I used to be able to do "back in the day" on my RD's and my Seca...but that is "seat of my pants" logic, next time I need to use the lap timer feature....it would tell the tale....LOL

A HUGE THANK YOU TO BMC for putting on this spectacular event!

Thanks Erik and crew

Could not have asked for a better day! Thanks to Buell for hosting this day and letting me ride one of their bikes.

Bobup,

Excellent Post and Descrip! Thank you! Too Cool!

Based upon the pics...posted after you, it looks to be an incredible track and experience.

Keep it up(?)...you are only as old as you let on to be! Are you going out for more soon? What are your plans?

After all, no female(?...unless the keep it up is still in question!) could guess your age behind the leathers and helmet!

Fun aside, great read and thank you for sharing! All the best to you and yours efforts, mm

What a fabulous day!! It was a long drive from San Diego there and back, but was absolutely worth it.

This was my fourth Inside Pass track day and the best one yet. Sears Point is such a FUN track!! Lots of corners, both high speed and not, and terrain. And the track surface was in pretty good shape almost everywhere.

The advanced group was WAY FAST, a fair amount more so than the other tracks I've run at. There were quite a few race bikes that were loaded with sponsor stickers, so there were clearly a lot of AFM racers in the group. I am used to being one of the backmarkers in advanced, but I don't think I've been passed as fast as I was yesterday. There were some very good riders in that group.

Thanks Buell for the hospitality and the chance to participate in these events! I sure hope they'll be back next year!

MM.....yeah...definately not old upstairs (nor down below either)....just the bulge in the midway says otherwise.

Yes, I intend to do one trackday each year...can't really afford to do more than that, plus if I were to do more, I would rather get my AFM license again and RACE...but that would get me divorced....don't want that!

I recommend coming to Infineon Raceway to ANYONE who has never been.....it is a very technical track....I have always preferred it over Laguna Seca (yes I have raced there before the "new" configuration).

I second Al's hope that we will see more trackdays by BMC in the coming years! (please keep Infineon on the schedule)

Amen to all said above. Had a great time, saw lots of friends. Bob G and crew came down from WA just for the event. It was a fantastic time.
I enjoyed the CR more than the R, maybe the gearing. Front end was not a confidence inspiring. Might have been set-up. Lofted front end coming down eight towards nine.Beating someone elses bikes, tons of Buell friends,Great lunch from Buell. Fantastic weather. Who could ask for more?

I was up that way a few days earlier but had to fly home on the Saturday red-eye.

Got to see some cool cars though. I was showing my girlfriend the Napa area and decided to pop in to see if a certain someone was in but to no avail. Someone needs to put a sign on their door. : )

Need to make some more money as Infineon has strict sign requirements and they be pricey. You were close, we are directly across from that car. I was gone on friday headed for El Mirage to play going fast!

LOL Yea I know you are Jim. I snapped that shot while she nursed our son in front of your place.

I was out there on business and decided to take my girl and our son with me. She has never been to Cali. We went to Muir Woods on Friday then headed up towards Napa in the afternoon. We were going up 37 and she mentioned that she had to feed the kid. I knew Infineon was close so I decided go there to stop for a bit to feed him and maybe say hello. I figured there could be a slim possibility that you might be around.

Oh and don't worry, she was in the backseat of our rented SUV that had the all of the back windows tinted. : )

I was the transport to the hospital, two broke ribs and tons of lessons learned later. Note to self the bike survives better than I do. One of the guides had me up and the bike started right up... me uhhm not so much.

Anywho I'm hooked maybe next time I'll keep the shiny side up.

I just felt bad for holding up everyone else's good time.. and the morphine can't forget the morphine....
